Finally purchased a Whirl-a-way 18" surface cleaner and did my first demo yesterday evening. Please let me know what you think. Also, how are most of you rinsing? The rinse took longer than the cleaning!!

Again, thanks to everyone on this board. The information you provide is invaluable.

Looks good ! Did you get the job ?

A lot of jobs that you will run into will take longer to rinse than the actual cleaning and that is not even talking about low spots in parking lots or large driveways, those are fun.

yea rinsing sucks! I would say the last ten or so houses i have done were older and all the water went to the middle of the cement. i would have to rinse and rinse and rinse and....... well you get the picture. that is why i love most newer homes because the driveways are higher than the grass and drain great(normally)!!:D the surface cleaner will make life grand!

Thanks for the replies. Yes, I just found out that I got the job. This is a small, stand alone office with attached warehouse. The total for outside was only 900 sq/ft (sidewalk and small loading dock) and 200 linear ft of curbing. She did not want the parking spaces cleaned!!??? Signed a service agreement (thank you Ron for the wording) for quarterly cleaning at $250.

How am I on the pricing?

you are the only one who can say weather the price is good or not.

but i can say that if it takes you longer than 2 hrs to drive there clean it remove gum, pack up and get home you probably should be charging more.

Any body have any good suggestions on a sludge or sump pump or vacuum system for low lying spots that won't drain?

Pat i usually just keep playing with the standing water blowing it little by little and before you know it its gone. i went and bought a real heavy thick squeege just for this kind of thing if blowing the water wont work

Yep thats what I do too, I only vac it up if I have to. Keep it simple.

There are many ways to get rid of the water in low areas, squeegee, sludge pump, trash pump, wanding until you get it all done.

When I have a job that I know is a lot lower in some areas like this one yearly job where there has a lot spot in the middle of the parking lot where all the water drains to I bring my sludge pump and 100' of discharge hose.

You need to determine what works best for you, the sludge pump uses either 1.25" or 1.5" discharge hose so that takes up a little bit of room on the trailer so I do not keep it there all the time. The pump and 50' is coiled up inside one of the plastic boxes with removable lid that locks down. The other 50' of hose is just coiled up so when I do that job or something similar I bring the extra hose and box.

One of the guys made a version of the sludge pump and it works good and it is small enough that you can keep it on your trailer like in a tool box and use regular garden hose for it, it is a good idea, I was going to make one but have not got around to it yet but I will.
