I've heard it said before, and up to this point I didn't buy it: Vista is crap!
On Thu. I fired up the Sony Vaio laptop and everything seemed normal until Windows Vista Home Premium started running and the configuring updates screen popped up. After it configs. 9 updates (which seemed like a lot because I always run them as soon as they're available) I get a strange screen telling me that windows cannot continue because of a corrupt file. It instructs me to insert the installation disk & hit enter. Uh, problem #1 my laptop came pre-loaded with everything, NO INSTALLATION DISK! Actually a Sony fault, but that's a whole diffferent story I'll get to in a minute. So I take it to my I.T. guy, he puts a disk in punches a few keys & I'm back in business. I go to log off after using it for a while & I see that it's installing updates (gulp). I immediately start it back up, CONFIGURING UPDATES 1 of 9....ARGGGG. Same story. After a few more battles and crashes I had Vista Ultimate installed with no problems (so far), but now my pre-loaded Sony software (no install disc mind you) is gone. The only reason I got the Sony laptop was the ease of making DVD's with it & my Sony camcorder, plug it in and press 1 buttton. Now I've gotta fight Sony to get some installation discs to run these programs & this Ahab the Arab type informs me that the programs I want back are only compatible with Vista Home Premium. YOU HAVE GOT TO BE FREAKIN' KIDDING ME!!!
Long story short, AVOID the Vista updates unless they're absolutely necessary!
