Gutter clean out

With fall coming right up, I thought this would be my start so I could build some cash for the rest of my equipment.

My plan is to focus on single story tract neighborhoods in the area so I can bang them out in 1/2 an hour each. I will have one guy suck out the debris first with my vacuum, follow with a low pressure high volume rinse with my washer. Both can be accomplished from the ground with the right attachments.

I guess I'm looking for feedback/constructive criticism. Also wondering what others are getting for gutter clearing elsewhere?

Before anyone suggests I search, let me say I did. Wasn't able to find what I was looking for.

!/2 hour isn't very long. There is always a mess that gets on the siding and windows or whatever when you start to flush gutters out, they leak at connections, can be plugged up in the downspout, wrinkled up mesh gutter guards. This can all be done, but a 1/2 hour isn't long for gutter cleaning. Dragging hose and extension cords around corners and plants adds to the fun as well. I just did one yesterday on a garage and the muck at the bottom was like adobe. Just allow more time,...do a couple and get a feel for what you're getting into.

Brandon,

My helper usually throws the debris into a trash bag that I am holding on the ground (no more than 10 feet) then we go with the wash like you are doing. We then wash off the house just to get the debris off.

Just my .02

Are gutter cleaning starts at 127.00 and goes up from there.

Thanks Don for putting a figure, and thanks everybody else for their input.

Do you all really think 1/2 hour is unrealistic considering approx. 1500-2000 sq. ft houses and doing it all from the ground? I wouldn't have to climb up a ladder at all. I tested it on my house first (it's the same size I'm talking about) and was able to do it in 40 minutes having to start the equipment. In the scenario I'm talking about I'd leave the equipment running and focus on a neighborhood a day. Am I missing something?

The problem with doing a job too quick is the quality suffers. If you can make your rate take the time to do it right. Referals and repeat business from a job well done pays for itself many times over.

I would never let the quality suffer, I just feel I have the equipment to do it quickly.

Let me twist the question around a bit. Those that are doing it, what method are you using and how quickly does it go for you? Time for a house like I'm talking about, or time per lineal foot? Are you only removing the bulk or doing a rinse as well?

Thanks!

The only thing I was pointing out is the fact that there can be different variables from house to house. Gutters with gutter guards that have failed will require you getting up there and removing them before you can even start cleaning. Those mesh guards collapse. Also you have to keep in mind that some downspouts will be plugged. There can also be sticks that have to be removed by hand because they will get stuck under the hangers of the gutters. None of this is hard, just don't put a time on it.

Standard gutter cleaning on a 2,000 SQFT colonial home here is $80.00 as long as we can safely walk the roof. The job is completed in 15 minutes and includes a roof inspection, est pw house, deck walkways.

Maryland Gutter Cleaning

Gutter companies here get $85 per hour

I have a friend that does residential window cleaning and gutter cleaning. He has over 2,000 established customers. If it's a small ranch he can walk about $85. All others are up $$. He uses a backpack blower and blows everything down and his only helper blows most stuff into the planting beds. The rest he bags and lets the homeowners put it in their trash. No rinsing. I'm not making this up. The steep ones he scoots along with one foot on the gutter and a knee on the roof. He's in his mid fifties and has three fingers on one hand and grosses $800 to $1,300 a day for gutter cleaning alone. In and out in 30-45 minutes unless it's a monster. You'd have to see it to believe it.

I think getting a whole neighborhood or even the majority is being pretty optimistic. But definitely a market for it and not just for fall around here.

I HATE gutter guards or mesh, that sure can ruin a day

I do 1, 2 & 3 story condo buildings from $75 - $200 a building. 2 or 3 guys can do 25 - 35 buildings in a 8 hour or less day on must projects. Its a GREAT money maker. We use blowers, hook & poles and we snake the downspouts and 100% ground clean up

We have one project that is $6295 we get in done in 2, 10-11 hour days, 3 guys and we do it every 3 months I LOVE GUTTER CLEANING , its some of the best money we do
