Happy, Respect, Valued employees equals happy customers

Read this quote today and it made me think of Doug Rucker and the way he is with his guys. I don't see their firsthand interaction but the results speak for themselves. "always treat your employees as you want them to treat your best customers".

If you show rather then tell your employees how to act then that will inherently transfer into their personality and affect how they are with your customers. Your customers may be the "Golden Egg", but you gotta treat the Goose right to keep getting those golden eggs.

Great Post Jeff

Ive done more on that end over the years than probably anything else

Alot of my business is painting projects where were at someones home for a number of days on every job

I always convey to my guys to communicate with the client. SMILE, say good morning be respectful of their property

On interior jobs my guys know as soon as they go inside the shoes come off- they are trained to do that

the same guys PW for me and they have it down where they interact with the client beforehand and afterwards on our jobs

It took awhile but its kind of like second nature now

I feel its an extremely important but overlooked aspect of our business

It carries over from how i speak to my guys- always respect

A while back I had a contractor come in my home to do some drywall ceiling repair work. His helper was talking about how drunk he got the Friday night before and was cussing. I politely asked him to not cuss in my house and he continued to do so. I kicked both of them out after only being here for 30 mins. And no he didn't go quietly but he did go. Don't ever hire someone who calls their business " Eyeball Drywall"! Oh yeah, almost forgot, The guy is in jail now for felony possession of a firearm. SMH
