How can we

Things are busy and have lost 2 jobs today. How can we educate the public that they are not our only customer and we are booked for the month. They plan for birthdays, weddings, friends coming in and so on. Is this something we should put on our web sites or what? Hate to loose work due to I am busy also having to see a few different doctors to find out what is going on with me.

Either add another worker or count your losses.

I am booked for almost three weeks out right now and lose at least one customer a day due to not being able to do the job now. Can't get them all. Then I have these idiots that keep canceling me, leaving empty slots which pisses me off. I've been dealing with one guy that keeps asking me to change his date. It is a half a day job and I have been screwed like three time already. I just deleted his info. I have gotten at least 50 calls in the last week. I don't have time for BS.

My customers all know I do my best to get them in as fast as I can, but I can't be every where. I guess my difference is all my customers are commercial/industrial customers some I have had for 8 years now. You can't do it all, if somebody can not wait then that is how it is. If one fast food restaurant is super busy and another one is a block away is empty and you need lunch quick there is a good chance you will go to the next one. You have to decide when you have turned down enough people when you should put another unit/person on the road so you don't have to say no as much.

Sub the work out for a % to someone you know thats not killing it yet. Keeps your customers from shopping. That customer is satisfied and still your future client. Stabilize your areas $$$ amount. So next Christmas they still call you because the in-laws are flying in and need the pool cage cleaned. Eliminate handymen and off season lawn care guys from killing the number'$$. Keep the pressure washers working either way you're protecting yourself and this industry. I'd rather give you guys a lead because we build each other up and are fighting for a good income. Thats my take

I love the Friday call for an estimate, wait till Sunday to confirm then ask to schedule for Monday morning. Then they get pissy when I tell them I can get to them 2 weeks out.

Were about 4 weeks out right now. Lose atleast one a day due to scheduling time constraints and people wanting it "now".... Nature of the beast is how i see it though. We educated and do our best to show it wont hurt people to wait, but at the end of the day we dont let it bother us.

I don't do it all the time, but if they push me on time, I will give them 2 prices. My regular price and a if you can wait I'll take a little off price. It works sometimes and when it doesn't....... NEXT!
