I just made my web site about 5 days ago, and im doing a lot of different things to increase seo.. Being that I used site solution with yahoo, and used there program to make the site, Im limited to the ammount of meta tags per page I can use. I did however to implant some, and have submitted my site using yahoo submit site tool 3 times. But yet my site is not indexed anywhere

Also I do have an adwords account... and using a company called engineseeker to increase my clicks and exposure.. To increase my alexa ranking.. Ive had over 1000 clicks in 4 days.

Question here is, how long does it normally take to get picked up by major search engines? I know I Can manually verify my site with google but they mant me to implant a meta tag, and well thats not possible.. Unless I make my own html site witch I am working on..

Some people say 5 days.. some say 3 weeks.. What is the norm any tips or advice?

Thanks

John

Thank you russ, Ive tried though.. I cant change anything.. Its retarded.. In the page options tab at the top of the site solution menu there is a meta tag link but it only lets you put 250 characters.. I cant Add more than that...

I dont know what I am missing.. I cant find the html format for the page so i can insert meta tags, and manually verify my site with google.

Ive turned that site upside down looking and just cant find a solution..

I have little content with 1 photo on my home page so it loads fast. Not everyone has a cable modem. In my opinion you have to be able to tweak a site for maximum search engine position. Build it and they will come doesn't work. I'm learning all the time about it. It's a challenge.

for those of you that include your pricing structure on your website, how has that been beneficial? curious because im thinking of doing so

Why would you give your competition your prices to beat?

depends upon what your looking to do with your pricing. I have it there to let my competition and my customers know the going rates for us to service their property. These prices are somewhat a baseline and we get those rates generally for everything we do. If i can get my competition to quit pricing things 20-50% lower and still give their crappy job then in the end I will end up making more money because we don't cut corners and we have the tools to be more efficient then they are. In the end I can generally get more money than my competition and still get the job done faster making more profit then they can. Funny how that works

John,

Google and the other SE's send out spiders to crawl pages and content randomly. lets say they send one out once a week. If they send it out now, and you publish your page 2 hours later, they wont crawl your site for a week.

That being said, w/ alot of effort put into your SEO, you can expect to wait 1-3 months before you are noticed on google and about 5-7 months before you get on the first page and maybe 9-12 months to become #1. If you every reach #1 in Houston. There's alot of competition in our market, so you're going to have a rough SEO road ahead.

I had set prices for a while and didnt notice a plus or a minus from it. I think the issue you may have is like Gene said, all your competition knows what you are charging.

We do have minimums posted but it is just to weed out the price shoppers who are calling to shop the price of the $35 driveway cleaner. (we do have $35 driveway guys in Houston) and we strictly adhere to those minimums. No exceptions.

Thank you all for the answers.. As far as seo work goes, Im working on a few things that should increase my ranking fairly quickly.. Within a year or so, I will be only Flat work, And deck Restoration..

So Who knows.. For now.. Trying to do everything in my ability to gain clientele and market exposure is the plan.. then To what I really want.

Looking forward to seeing you Scott

John

I have had my pricing for a couple of years, on residential it is fixed, I have a definate price structure but on commercial it varies, some of our peices go as far as .03 to .12 per square foot. I basically have it there so customers can get an idea, I still get many calls where customers dont even look at that page.

Most here are happy to find someone who will do it for a reasonable rate that is here from year to year without worry
