I need help!

This may be an unusual post, but I am interested in learning the hood cleaning business. Would anyone out there be interested in training me for
4 or 5 nights? I'm located in Vermont so the closer the better, however I'm
not opposed to any location. I would appreciate the oppurtunity to work and
learn from an experienced operator.

Thanks,
Steve Barbour

Steven,

Welcome to the PWI. We were all newbies at sometime, I am still a newbie. However, I don't think anyone in your neighborhood will be willing to train a future competitor. I wouldn't, would you, think about it.

I think it's a good idea to go and hangout with a hood cleaning company for 6-7 nights & days. That way you will know for sure if it's something you would like to do. This is a nasty business and some of the hoods in the begining will make cry out for your mama.

Please take advantage of the search feature of this BBS. It's great because you can quickly find answers to questions you may have that have already been asked. I highly recommend reading the entire BBS from the first post titled "test". It's a good read and all about Exhaust Cleaning.

You can also pay for training. There are plenty of companies out there that offer training packages which will also certify you. You DO NOT need to be certified to clean exhaust systems but anyone who trains you will also offer certification as part of the package. I have never taken a class but some guys on this board have and can chime in. On a side note, if anyone ever called me up and said that they wanted to start cleaning exhaust systems in Los Angeles and could I train them to be my competition I would politely decline. If you had asked a few years ago it would have been a different story but there is way to much competition right now.

Steven,

Here is my card. Call me if you need some advise.

Przrat,

I went back and read all your post. It seemed to me by, the extremely long post concerning newbies, that you were all against training new people. However I did appreciate the fact that you ask what's in it for you. I just didn't care for the way you presented yourself on this BB. I have been offered help from an exhaust cleaner that seems to have earned alot of respect in this industry.
