For those who have wondered if participating in Home & Garden Shows are worth the investment and aggravation....YES THEY ARE! Our local HBA hosted a show in our local mall (<--- I use that term loosely, but it's what we have) We scheduled several jobs for power washing and overlays and have estimates scheduled all week. We also have a potential new commercial account that could exceed $250K to meet with later in the week.
Lowe's was also an exhibitor and held little "how-to" clinics every couple hours. Since Deck washing was one of them, I felt it was my responsibility to grill the instructor to make sure he wasn't giving bad advise to homeowners This resulted in both Lowe's stores in our area now referring consultations for wood care or the jobs themselves to our company. He even finished up his session by telling the attendees to stop by our booth and meet us.
These shows are powerful tools - you don't need fancy booths, as you'll see by our photo. We simply displayed samples of our work, made certain we had lots of cards and brochures and talked to EVERYONE.
