Leasing v. Buying

I just had the engine in my box truck blow up on me for the third time in a year and a half. It is still under warranty but I ma tired of dealing with it. I was looking into a new vehicle and was looking at leasing v. buying and I wanted to see what you guys (gals) would suggest.

well the only thing about leasing is that you have a mileage barrier. i am not sure but if you go over so many miles you have a fee to pay. i live in dallas ft worth and i accumilate alot of miles in a year. it would not benefit me to lease. do lots of research

Thank you Brian. I have already purchased a new truck.
No one responds on this bbs like on most others.

yeah i know these guys are hard. i have had questions and no one wanted to help. i try to answer questions if i know about the topic. if you have any questions i'll help out where i can...

People on this bbs do respond. It is hard to aswer a personal choice/question. now if you had asked wich truck is better, ford, chevy or dodge, you would have gotten plenty of suggestions.

P.S. it is ford 7.3 PS diesel if you were wondering.

I was not asking for a personal choice, i was simply asking for advice. I have never looked into leasing anything.

The likelihood is that none of us have either...did you want a bunch of replies saying "I don't know, but wanted to assure you that I read your question, so I wanted to respond even though my response is worthless"??

Then there are those of us who don't come here often, and thus didn't read your post until today. My OPINION is that in most cases, leasing is stupid, a waste of money, and benefits no one but the dealership. You have nothing to show for it in the end.

BTW, the best truck is NOT a Ford, it is a Dodge 2500 5.7L Hemi Quadcab 4x4 ThunderRoad. :) Had I been able to justify the additional expense, the best truck would be a Dodge 2500 Cummins Quadcab Laramie. The additional $8k or so was just a bit over my budget.

I knew somebody would have to reply to my choice of the "best" truck. Most real truck owners have a firm opinion. I do not count the toyota/nissan/other imports as trucks. Just becasue it has a bed and some type of wimpy V8 that used to belong in a lexus, does not make it a truck.

What did you end up pruchasing Jonathan?

Mike it seems like you are pissed with your wording, if I offended I apologize, just stating my opnion. I ended up purchasing a 2005 Chevy Express. It runs like a charm and is doing great. It has a 14' box on it. My other truck is at jasper getting a new engine put in it. That is the 3rd engine in a year and a half I have had in that truck. That one is an 84 GMC Vandura 3500 with a 15' box. Nearly everything under that hood is less than 2 years old, I just got fed up with the engine. With it still being under warranty I saw no reason to get it fixed. So here in about 2 weeks I will have 2 trucks. It was a frustrating experience but a blessing from God at the same time.

Nope, I wasn't pissed at all, just wanting to clarify why some folks might not have answered. Sorry to be so direct, but offense, or making you think I was offended, wasn't my intent.

Isn't the express one of those high sided vans? How do you like it?
