Need Advice on Fixing My Bathroom Fixtures

Hi everyone,

I recently noticed some issues with my bathroom, including a leaking faucet and a crack in the bathtub surface. I’ve been considering tackling the repairs myself but I’m not sure where to start.

I’ve read about different methods for sealing cracks and fixing leaks, but I’m concerned about causing more damage. Can anyone share tips, recommended tools, or step-by-step guides for shower & tub repair?

I’d love advice from those who have successfully handled similar projects, especially regarding cost-effective solutions and avoiding common mistakes.

You can repair minor bathtub cracks and a leaking faucet yourself if the damage is superficial. For the faucet, turn off the water, identify the leaking part such as a washer, O-ring, or cartridge, replace it, and reassemble. For a small bathtub surface crack, clean and sand the area, apply an appropriate tub repair kit using epoxy or fiberglass, let it cure, then sand and polish. Avoid working on deep or structural cracks, leaks under the tub, or complex plumbing and call a professional in those cases. Always follow instructions carefully, ensure surfaces are dry, and check your repair over a few days to confirm it holds.
