I need help. My surface cleaners are both leaving vetical stripes in the concrete. I have tried replacing them, adjusting the angles and still I have this problem. Has anyone ever had this problem? How do I fix it? If you look close in the pics you will see what I am talking about. Thanks in advance!!

That is always the first thing to check Spencer. We change out tips in our sweepers every week. They get beat up with all that dirt and rocks pelting it at 2000rpm's.

Nick, How do you line up your tips with your bar? Are the directly in line or angled a little bit?

In line with the bar. Seems to work best, but there are some that do it differently..

Spencer, I couldn't see what you were talking about in the pics but I do know what you mean. I have had it do it on 1 driveway and not do it on others. Was this the only one it was doing it on? Oh and I always line mine up with the bar. I do alot of flat work and never have to change my tips all that often. Normally if there is a problem it is just that a small piece of dirt may have gotten stuck in the tip of the nozzle. thats an easy one to fix!

New concrete wll cause it if it's too (Green) or just poured.I couldn't see it either but you could be taking the cream off the cement which is thw water and concrete that is floated up when it's poured. If I'm cleaning a driveway or sidewalk and start seeing light gray or brown ater coming out of my sc I shut it down and check if I'm damaging it.

Concrete comes in several different PSI's which means the lower the mix say 2500 psi it is softer than a 6000 psi which is what goes in the big buildings and parking garages its very hard stuff. Some builders us the lower psi to pour driveways and sidewalks because its cheaper,if you ever have cleaned inside a garage on a new house you can't hurt that concrete but you go out and try the driveway and it starts striping it because of the psi of the concrete.

What do you mean when you say "line the tips up with the bar"?

Jim if you look at the tips on your surface cleaner there is a scored line on each side of the spray opening. You should try to line those up evenly with the spray bar to get the maximum rpm's and best spray angle. :)

We are using porcelain/ceramic ( can't remember which one it is.) tips in our cleaners now.
They work pretty well.

Where is the best place to buy a sc swivel for a Big Guy? Does anyone rebuild thiers? Mine is pretty much done. I have never had to replace it.

Spencer, I believe that "Action" over by you in Brandon carries the parts you need. If not and if you don't mind coming over to this side of the bridge Whisper Washer is right by me on 118th aveenue. They will usually fix stuff like that right there while you wait.

Thanks Larry, I usually get my stuff from action because they are not too far from me. I was just wondering if there was somewhere on the internet I could order a swivel and replace it myself cheaper.

Spencer,
I didn't see any lines in your pics that you posted. But I know what you are talking about I get 3 different lines when i clean concrete. I get the racing strips where it cleans more in that certain area where you over lap, I try to control this by trying not to over lap as much and as like what was said earlier in this thread i spray SH and try to lighten it up that way. I had this happen to me the other day. Then i get the lines when the concrete is not strong enough, I have made this problem go away by one making sure the concrete has some time to cure and when i have just soft concrete I change my tips to a bigger orifice. The other line i get is the zebra strips and i just slow down to get rid of those.
