New to PWI

Hey everybody!
New to PWI and wanted to introduce myself. My name is Ed and I am trying to get started in the pressure washer industry for myself. :) Would like to get to know all I can about the business. I have done this kind of work in the past but it was a long time ago and for someone else. I know like everything else it has changed. I bought a 2009 Landa PGHW and a 200 gallon water tank and mounted it on a trailer I already had. The unit is a 4.8 GPM at 3500 PSI with the capablity of getting 250+ degrees. I plan on getting a good surface cleaner to use. Any suggestions? My concern it quoting the jobs. I don't want to under sell my work but at the same time I don't want to be turned down because I am too high. I don't want to try and make a quick buck here. This is my business and I want to be around a long time. Whatever help I can get I will be most grateful.

Welcome and good luck..
Ash will probably be around to tell you something in a few days, for some reason I think hes busy.
And Larry might want to sniff your socks..LOL

Welcome to PWI Ed. :) Slip off your socks and relax. Of course you will have to wait for Big Ash to welcome you before you can do that. :D

Welcome Ed. I've got the same PW. It's a good one. (But, just so you know, as confirmed by temp gauge) it has to be approximately 165 degrees outside for that unit to reach 250. (Which is no problem here in Las Vegas, but you might have a little trouble reaching that temp.:)

A lot of guys talk about the Big Guy surface cleaner. I've got the Landa Waterjet. I like it.

Good luck!

Welcome to the madness

It is not about having problems, it is about how they really work and the misleading information that the vendors don't give or purposely do not tell you about heat rise and outside temperature.

Just because the dial says it will get to 240 or 280 or 300 degrees does not mean it will reach that hot, especially on a cool or cold day.

There have been threads all about this and in great detail, just search for some of Jim's posts and check it out.

Thanks Tony! The guys at Cougar Chemical told me the heat range. I haven't put a temp gauge on it yet. You had any problems with your washer?

Your hour meter will break the first time it rains.

Other than that it is one sweet puppy. I only hit 180 degrees on a regular basis so I plan to bump it up to 6 gpm with a different pulley. The larger 6 gpm Landa machine uses the exact same pump and motor, just a different pulley. (SLT6-3232)

I've already put.....uh....I don't know how many hours on it......the hour meter's broke.

Welcome Ed, lots of info here.

What kind of hour meters does those landa units have Tony, Ed?

You could put this on or have it as a back up.

They're replacing it for free, it's just on backorder.

Welcome Ed. We run steel eagles and we love them. The only thing is that the Deublin spinners are very expensive to repair but they last a long time.

Be sure you dont go out and get the biggest spinner. I would only reccomend larger spinners for machines putting out higher volumes of water. Our landa PGHW was the first machine we had and we mated it up with a 30" steel eagle. I will tell you personally that it was noticibly slower and it didnt clean as effciently as the water jet or the 24" steel eagle. It was not until we had purchased the 8gpm machine that we had noticed a great improvement on the 30" steel eagle.

Welcome Ed, just ask and these guys know the answers.
