Depends on what kind of paint but most times a little acetone goes a long way

Easy strip 1000 by Newlook works great, but needs Dwell time.
Heat helps a lot.
Also $70/gal

Doug, about how long would the bare brick need to dwell on paint like this?
I haven't tried that product

Depending on how much we get up with the heat, it would require up to three applications at 3 minutes part.

Heat alone might do it..doesnt look like much from the pic

If not id apply a little acetone like someone else mentioned, let it sit a few minutes, agitate it a bit and rinse it with hot water

What Doug R. said! I've used Bare Brick from Worlds Best and it will do the job, no if's, and's or but's. Call Ray and he'll hook you up.

Jasco- paint remover- brush on, wait 10 min. (HD carries in paint isle) Super strong wear gloves- then blast with heat
