Safe Restore Problem!

I have used safe restore for a while now. Opened a new 5 gal container yesterday that I have had for a few months and this is what happened. It is almost like it took the color out of the paint. The house is only a year and a half old. I contacted eaco chem and sent them the pictures and they are supposed to get back to me with an answer. Anyone ever had a problem like this with safe restore? It happened on two houses I cleaned yesterday. I only have pics of one of the houses but I am going back to get pics of the other.

I would NEVER use safe restore for a house wash.....Acid is not good for houses............

I use acidic cleaners sometimes to take the window run off stains off of buildings. I have seen them get bleached out before as well.

I always start out with a very weak dilution and then work up until the stain comes off.

There's probably not a whole lot you can do.

I just did a test this week with Safe Restore on stained brick on a motel. It worked well full strength but smells like high test hydrochloric acid. Not the kinda stuff paint would like I think.

Just curious what was on the house that house wash wouldn't touch?

It has always worked for me and eaco chem told me it was safe to apply to iron stains on the exterior of a painted stucco home. The iron stains usually disappear as soon as it makes contact. I have used it for a while and never had a problem. I don't know if this was a bad batch or what. Hopefully they will give me an explaination. I saw that stuff last time I was at Ameritech Kory. I think I'll pick some up next time I'm there. Do you use it on residental painted exteriors?

They are on a well and had lots of sprinkler rust on the house!!!

What was your process or method of application?

Was it hot outside or cool?

Did you apply it on a dry surface or wet?

It was actually overcast all day. I pump sprayed it on a wet surface and had about 5 min dwell time. I low pressure rinsed it. This is not my first time using safe restore. I have used it for a couple years now. I have never had a problem with it until now. It has always worked awesome for me. I applied it the same way as always. Maybe eaco chem can tell me the problem. I just did nothing different than usual so I don't know what happened.

I've had it do it to me too but with Pink Stuff and even with Rust Aide. The combination of cheap paint, constaint errossion from the sprinklers hitting it and the sufur in the well water will fade those areas where the sprinkler water hits. I bet if you applied it to an area of the house where the sprinklers don't hit it would not do that.

Maybe it wasn't painted. Some stucco has the pigment in the mortar. Maybe that was the difference.

The pigment from the stucco does not lift, it's obviously a repaint, probably cheap latex without proper adhesion due to poor surface prep.
