Seeking Advice on Door Replacement Options

Hi everyone,

I’m planning to replace an old interior door in my home and could use some guidance. I’m trying to decide between solid wood, hollow core, or composite doors. My main concerns are durability, sound insulation, and overall cost.

I also want to know about any tips for measuring accurately and whether it’s worth hiring a professional versus a DIY installation. Has anyone here recently gone through door replacement?

What brands or materials did you choose, and would you recommend them?

Any advice or experiences would be really helpful.

Hi!

I recently went through replacing an interior door, so I can share my experience. I ended up choosing a composite door because it offered a good balance between durability, cost, and resistance to warping. Solid wood doors are beautiful and soundproof, but they are heavy and expensive, while hollow core doors are cheaper and lighter but do not last as long and do not block sound well.

When I was looking for options, I also explored Door Replacement in Ocean City, which helped me find local suppliers and installers. Measuring carefully is key. Make sure to get the height, width, and thickness right and check if your frame is square.

I did it myself, and while it took some patience, it turned out well, though a professional can make it easier.
