I am pretty new to this, and I have done several decks and fences, I have this project where I will be doing the deck, from alot of advice I have seen on here I have been using Sodium Precarb on the the decks and then neutrulizing. I was wondering if I can use Sodium Precarb on vinyl siding as a house wash. Or if there is a better product. Please let me know your suggestions or comments on this. Thanks for all your help in all the past posts that have been so helpful.

Yes you can.......

Yes you can. Sodium Percabonate works well on siding as long as you have another chem to go along with it. You need to add a stabilizer as such to help the percarb cling to the surface for an amount of time.

Thank you for the advice, would a basic soap work as a stablizer? Can you add that to the precarb without causing a chemical Reaction?

percarb will work but the cost is greater than hypochlorite. you will have to mix the percarb before the job because after it is mixed it has a life of about 6 hrs. since its a granule you will have to take the time to stir and dissolve or it could clog injectors.
percarb when mixed with water becomes hydrogen peroxide aka oxygen bleach, or oxyclean. the only advantage of using percarb on a house is that it is more enviro freindly than chlorine. a soap like liquid laundry detergent can be mixed with the percarb, alot of the laundry detergents have oxygen bleach already mixed in, but not in strong enough concentration for housewashing or deck cleaning.

on decks percarb works well but only if the deck has never been sealed and has mildew. if it has been sealed it could take several percarb applications. best to use a high alkaline cleaner (sod. hydroxide based) for sealant and stain removal.

I always add "Pure Rinse" Liquid Cascade to my house washing mix. I'm sure that would be fine for the percarb as well.

I used percarb once out of desperation (ran out of hypochlorite) I don't really remember the results.........it turned out fine, but I can't compare how it was versus bleach.

Good luck.

My biggest concern would be how it affects the glass after it dries. I Know my current mix is good on the windows........but I'd be very careful before switching.

funny you mentioned the liquid cascade, two days ago i had to go to the store to pick up more detergent and i spent about a half hour looking at the automatic dishwasher products...i got some cascade tabs and a bottle of the liquid cascade. havent tried it yet but how much do you put into your mix?

my housewash mix is 13:1 bleach and 2 cups of liquid detergent mixed in.

Its not an exact science for me.......I usually put three or four generous squirts.

Mike,

What is your house washing mix and chem. ratio, if you dont mind sharing? Where do you get your chems from? Thanks.
