A variety of things can cause stripes from a surface cleaner...
1. You are going too fast
2. The swival is going bad in the surface cleaner
3. Wrong or clogged tips
4. Not enough pressure or flow for the surface cleaner
Without pictures it hard to tell. But usually when we have stripes its from where the surface cleaner overlapped itself, and cleaned the concrete better. A nice light coat of SH will clean it right up. What kind of SC are you using and what degree are the tips?
there was a real good post not long ago on this topic. i was having the same problem. one of the suggestions was to raise the whole bearing assembly up as high as i could in the housing. i have a hammerhead, and this seemed to help some. it gave the tips a little wider angle of spray and reduced the pressure in one spot. i was having striping about 3in wide on each side of the pass. this area stays in contact with the pressure longer than any other spot, so it could be that the pressure is eating away the grout more in that area. for me, it shows up more on some jobs than others. i figure that the grout is just softer on some jobs than on others.
Also, if you have a Hammerhead, check the hose diameter that comes with it. Mine came with a 5/16. Changed it to a 3/8 and raised the swivel some and it helped eliminate striping on most concrete.
