FOr those of you that have employees, what is the approximate percentage over the pay they are receiving that you have to pay in taxes? If I was to pay a full time employee $ 30,000 should I be expecting the full cost (not talking about workmans comp, just taxes) to be $ 33,000, $ 37,500, $ 39,900 or am I even in the right ball park?

As an employeer, you are required to pay 7.65% for social security and medicare, federal unemployeement of .8% and your states state unemployement rate amount (In Ga 2.7%)

states unemployment rate in FL is 2.7%... spoke with ADP last week with regard to their payroll services.

They petition on your behalf to get your unemployment rate lowered over time, plus the cutoff for paying the unemployment rate is at $7000.

They also have a 'pay by pay' workers compensation coverage for employees... works out at 4.26% of payroll for employees actually doing the pressure washing work and less for sales and admin.

All in all, I will be at 15.41% of payroll per employee for all tax contributions and WC... and they do all the paperwork!!

so on $30,000 a year in FL it would be around $34000 for the year... (I think)...

Running them through a temp agency is not a bad way ether. The insurance certificate they provided me included commercial vehicle liability too. Probably doesn't make sense for long term help but for ocassional labor it's not a bad deal. Plus you can hire someone you know. Great idea I found here on PWI.

Looks like we are the same on the 2.7%. The cut off rate is $ 8,500 in GA
