Thinking of getting a descent laser printer

Thinking of setting up a miniature print shop which I feel would give me a lot of flexibility. Printing brochures on the fly to a select target. Probably will still need to use either local or online printing services to accomodate my eddm needs. What kind of printer & software package are you folks using? I was thinking MicroSoft Publisher. Don't want to use something as advanced as Adobe Illustrator, PageMaker though the programs are premier I feel the PUblisher would take care of my needs. Your thoughts? Thanks...

Is the printer going to be in your rig?

David, I'm also involved in a business where we do a lot of in house publishing. So I know of what I speak.

Don't buy a laser or an inkjet. Instead, buy this. I promise that if you do you'll thank me. Super reliable and way cheaper to operate in terms of supplies. Plus, print shop quality.

P.S you need to add a signature

Not quite sure what is going on with my signature. Was given two different passwords one to log on initially and then a more permanent one. The permanent one no longer works but the initial password does. Is their a link to set up your signature. I went to my profile and didn't see a link? Thanks.

Oddly I just figured out there are actually two boards, this and the contractors forum. In the contractors forum my signature appears but not in this forum. Guess I will have to contact Nicole.

Does that printer allows you to use postcard quality paper? or what would be the closest type of paper to use like a postcard.

Yes. It'll print on heavy card stock.

Next time you're in a print shop look at what they're using to print. Chances are it's this one - Xerox Phaser.

I do most of my own brochure printing on heavy stock glossy.

I use a Dell 3115CN.

It is a rebranded Xerox.

I print 60-100 full color brochures per month and have not changed a color toner in almost 2 years.

I love it.

Hello Tony - Your print quality professionally looking? Thanks.

It looks as good as I used to get from Office Max.

Not as good as the glossies you get when you order out.
