use of chemicals

I Was wondering what kind of chemicals to use for cleaning brick and aluminum siding?? BRands where to purchase??

I am new to pressure washing and only have been using pressure to do the cleaning but I would like to delve into the use of chemicals.

My unit has a soap/chemical injector (downstream) so I would like to use it.

One qestionI have is when you inject the chemicals into the system do you put the tube directly into the bottle of chemical while using the black tip nozzle and just spray it on low pressure? Or is there another method I should be using??

BEst regards,

Harvey,

Did you not get operating instructions with your new purchase?

All injectors work via low pressure to create the venturi need to draw soap. High speed pumps do not draw soap very well so you need to keep the supply close to the inlet.

Many of the chemicals used professionally will not be available to the homeowner. The Zep products available at Home Depot are NOT the same as those available for the Pro user; do not be fooled.

The black tip is the universal soap nozzle. It will lower the pressure and allow for the soap injector to work.

Go to the web sites for the manufactuers of siding and brick to see what they recommend.

Hope this helps? Cheers.

Thanks Mike. The ownersmanual was a bit unclear on the use of the soap injector, but I think you clearned any misconception I may of had.

As far as chemicals go my uncle owns a precision ID/OD grinding machine shop and he has an account w/ zep so maybe I can check w/ his catalog and see if I can get chemicals through him??

Are the zep products at home depot that bad??

bst regards,

When cleaning brick use a muratic based material (Prosoco Sure Klean is one). I have always injected my chems, esp acids, using a end-of-wand injector such as an X Jet. You will need to test the take up (i.e. dilution) rate and back calculate the concentration you can apply.
