Vines on Siding

Does anyone have a way to remove vines from siding. A customer has removed the vines and has the leftovers from where they grabed onto the siding. I used heat but there iare still spots. Its almost like artillery fungus.

Hey Walter, your question doesn't suck, it's just that there isn't no really good answer for it. Is it vinyl or aluminum? If it is aluminum, better off to leave it alone. If vinyl you'll be able to put alittle more pressure on it. Chances are you will not be able to remove it, or let me refraze that, remove all of it. I have not found anything to remove all of it. And have not heard others comment on a good removal technique.

I do mostly commercial Flat work and never come up against much siding, I was waiting for Les to give you and answer, I do believe stateline has given you the scoop.

Les Les Les what do you think is there a miracle home brew for this gentleman?

Thank you

It is viny siding, I used heat and presure and it just won't come off. I''ll put this one in the X files.

Hey Ron,everybody run from that Q'tion, hahahaha,I figured as long as it has been sence I washed any house's someone would have solved dat problem by now, don't you just hate it when its on wood hehehe.

If you want to be a pro, don't pull it off but cut it off,yel takes alot of time, after that let the part thats still on the house dry for several days before you wash it.On wood turn psi down as the paint will be easy blown off b/c the roots that grabed are inbetween the wood and paint,it will be lose after the plant dies b/c more of its parts has decayed inbehind the paint and wood as more will more out making your wash job look better,if pulled off painted wood you'll pull off paint also as the reason to cut it off.

Alumu the same way.

Vin'le is alittle different, you can pull some of it off fairly easy without damage but the ones that are really stuck needs to be cut off.

alot of your accounts doesn't know the damage it does to their homes as to what it may look like if they pull it off.

I always told them yel I'll wash it but lets wait 2 or 3 weeks for it to decay,it'll look better than if I wash it now but still they will be several spots that will show,in time some will fade some want.........if real bad it may be cheaper to repaint then wash.

another way is to use a chemical to kill the plant,it save's you from cutting and you can wash it off instead of pulling if you let the chemical kill the plant all the way to its grabs.

vines on siding

The material that remains on the siding after the vines are removed has an adhesive base
has an adhesive base. Some physicians use a form of it insteas of
stitches. On wood or clapboard it is best to lightly sand it off. On
vinyl or alluminum a hope and a prayer.
