Washing cars at car dealers

Does anyone have any experience washing cars for car dealers? What kind of work is done. I have stopped by several dealers and some say they want their cars fully washed and dried, and others just want them rinsed off and a worker of theirs will dry them. Any help would be appraciated. What is a typical "per car" charge for this type of work? Thanks.

Hello Kris,

Many dealers have Gofors that do various dutys. In some cases when the dealership does not have anything for them to Go For they will wash cars. It is very difficult for anyone to come in with a price that can compete with this.

The dealers in my area tend to what to pay around $1 per car if they want to use an outside vendor. Of course they will say they want wash and dry for that price!

Anytime we have tired to "Just Rinse" no one liked the result!

If you are going to "just rinse", you need to do so with DI water (deionized). It won't spot when it dries.

I have always heard around $1 a car or so..............doesnt make it all that attractive of a line of work, for that money.

i washed a local lot for a franchise dealer 429 cars/trucks/suv/vans rinsed and shammy for $1.50 car
9 hours of washing 1 man washing 1 man drying.
1 man drying could not keep up with one man washing,i was averaging 50 cars rinsed per hour and the man drying could only do 15 per hour.

i will never again try this.
