What are the advantages of having a tank? I know not having a water supply is one but for doing homes that have water and filling the tank with the customers water for the next job will run into them asking "why are you useing my water when you have water already".

I have a tank on my trailer that has a selector valve that allows me to either run the pump bypass to the tank or back to the suction side of the pump. That way, if I am not upstreaming soap, I can let the bypass go back to the water tank and lessen the possibility of overheating the pump packings.

If you have water already from a customer wont that do the same thing?I'm not sure if having a tank will make any diference in my business needs.

Hello Mark,

We try not to rely on our customers for anything, including water. If we can use their hook-up great but if not we have everything thing that we need on our truck.

The reason I asked, I read that some people use the customers water. I dont have a tank, and was wondering if I should get one. I do homes and other surfaces around the home.

Having a water take will only help you with your work. 1) If you have a bypass, run it back to your tank and it will save on pump ware.2) If your water supply does not have sufficient GPM for your pump, the tank will make up for it.3) If there is no water supply you will need a tank to do the job. 4) You can add wax and about anything to the tank/tanks. WE use two 350 gal. Tanks in all 6 Trucks, and water or no water we can do the job. Also this will help with your ability to move around a job site. If I was you I wound get a 100 to 350 GAL. tank.

I have never had a customer give me trouble over using their water...................and my policy is I leave the job with the same amount (or less) water then I came with. If I roll in with half a tank, I try to leave with half, and not take extra from the customer. And if you do, so what, its only .05 cents a gallon.

I fill my tank sometimes at the local water company.........they have a two inch hose, and it fills my tank in about a minute and a half!

I am washing a house in the next couple of days that has a bad well, and I will not have any onsite water.................guess that answers your question about what a tank is good for. Also, what the others said about having a bypass set up is nice too.
