Pioneer Restaurant Destroyed
Story by Deanne Stein Email | Bio
The West Virginia State Fire Marshal's office began its investigation Monday into a fire at a Wayne County landmark.
The fire destroyed Pioneer Restaurant in Wayne early Sunday morning. The restaurant had served the community since 1952.
Louise Moorehouse's family owned the restaurant and she raised her 12 children there. The eatery had been a long-time gathering spot for friends and family, who remain devastated by the loss.
Still no word on what caused the fire. However, investigators say they do not believe it was suspicious.
