Mine is how I will end this all, will I be able to stay away from it when I do next MAY?
We are new so right now it is all about getting work. We are doing well with residential work but we could use some coaching on landing commercial accounts. Overall I am happy with our progress but in no way am I content.

I was just talking about this with my helper the other day and having to see someone 6 to 8 times is the hurdle for me. It isn't like I just ask and they give me the work. I know they are going to come up with every excuse. man I can only take no so many times.Dj has some real Basic structure of Sales, I like the way he can teach you to use Outlook.
Sales are building a program that allows you to follow up, most sales people do not follow up. The reasons are you get discouraged, you will see a commercial client on average of 6 to 8 times to close.
The only difference in my sales program is I will not waste time on someone if they are not worth my time. I have learned that there business has to be worth my effort.
I spent a lot of time of customers i didn't want, took years to learn I don't want everyones business.

My biggest hurdle is ME. As some are already aware, I am still teaching full-time. This leads me to hold back a lot of times out of the fear of the unknown. It's time I respect myself and business by working a well-thought out plan and sticking to it. My excuses like not having time, money, experience have grown old and need to be put to rest.
My original goal was to be able to have my wife stop teaching so she can stay home with our children, and for me to be able to stop teaching by 2015/2016. Now my goal is to be able to do this by the summer of 2014. Time's ticking - no excuses!
Your going to stay away, Not a chance!
Biggest obstacle is balancing work with a personal life. Seems like we could work all the time if we wanted to. My biggest obstacle is trying to enjoy life and trying to run business at the same time
I had to stop working weekends Long ago, just wasn't worth missing the kids off school. First Five Years i missed a lot of my KIDs & Wife.
I highly recommend younger guys do not Get caught up in this, its not worth it.
Never missed anything, That's one of the reasons I wanted to be self-employed, but in order to be at all of the activities and ball games it means you have to work some odd hours. Did a lot of work in the middle of the night and early in the mornings to make sure i didn't miss anything.
Time and me actually using everything I know and want to do.
Speaking of weekends off -
My biggest hurdle is finding dependable help. After going thru 6 guys this year I finally have a truck wash crew put together so I can get my weekends back.
Before the Nashville event I hadn't had a weekend off in 7 months. We'll see how it goes.
