A whip hose is used when the kids need correction (j/k).

We use a short 4' 'whip' section permanently on machine to make it easier to winterize. We disconnect long hose and coil to exit water, and then winterize the short section only. May not be a concern to you in N C, but it is expected to be single digits here for this week.

I don't mean to be mean, but there is alot of info. on this subject. Do a search for whip hose and you will find alot of info. One reason to use it is to save your longer, more expensive hoses from bends and such. Some people attach HP ball valves to switch between equip. without having to go back to the machine each time.
