Winterize?

Hello again,

Just need advice on winterizing my pressure washer- the temperature tends to dip way down at night here in the mountains without notice and I don't want to be caught unawares. I have an open trailer unit stored outside right now and I love to know the various ways other contractors have come up with to protect their machines at night-especially ones that will allow me to use the pressure washer each day follow a cold spell, and of course it has no be safe for the pump, etc. etc.

All I do is take RV antifreeze and run it through the system. If you have a cold water machine get you a 2 foot piece of garden hose and connect it to your machine. Put a funnel on the other end of the hose. Then pour antifreeze into the funnel. This will be easier with two people. Leave your machine on off and then pull the cord until you see antifreeze being spit out the other end. Usually a good 8 times or so. It usually doesn't take much at all. Do not connect your hose to the machine just let it spit out the pump.
If you have a hot water machine you will need to get antifreeze through the coils too. What I do is take a 5 gallon bucket and fill it half with antifreeze half with water. Drop a short piece of hose into the bucket and turn the machine on and let it suck it through until you see antifreeze come out the pump. DO NOT let your pump run dry. You will use a lot of antifreeze through the coils. It all depends on the type machine you have. When you go to use your machine again you will want to reclaim the antifreeze on a hot water machine because you use so much and it can be used again and again. On a cold water one you use hardly any so it isn't a big deal to try to reclaim it.

I too use antifreeze............but two years ago I started renting a garage to keep my trailer in...........it has drastically cut down on the amount of times I need to winterize the power washers. The garage is not heated, however it takes a while for it to get below freezing in there........

You must not be doing very much,everytime i see this photo you have the same amount of ready seal and bleach. lol
 
Well, if I snapped a current photo, the only difference would be less ready seal and a bigger stack of used buckets (far right).
 
If i run antifreeze through my system how long should it be good for? Lets say i run it through the system today and dont use the machine for about 2 weeks should it be fine?
