"Would you like an apple pie with your order"

Here's a job me and a buddy of mine (Ronnie Mears over at Texas Best Service) did last night.

It was a tough one. The hood had a sticker stating it was cleaned January 28, 2004. I wonder how they kept missing the entire exhaust system including the fan.

That is one of the best photos I have seen.
Keep them coming!

Dave- that is great-that is the photo of the year! Bet that job took you better than a hour to clean!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WOW!!! Now thats a Naztee!
Its amazing how the insurance company and the code guys dont see this stuff. Someone wasnt doing there job. All the more reason for professional hood cleaners to be active in the field.
Lucky it didnt burn down. Or worse cause a bacteria breeding farm. EWWWWW.

Hey didn't I see that on the discovery channel.
I wonder if the inspector in that are has a e-mail address.

Josh,

The angle is from the outside of the building looking into the duct. The duct runs east 3' then south 6' then straight down 3' to the hood.

Here's a picture of the 6' lateral section.

Scott

Scott,

These were the the before we got started pictures. I don't have any pictures of what we looked like when we were finished. I will tell you though. When I was putting tools in my truck I caught a glimpse of myself in the side view mirror and thought some homeless vagrant was trying to sneak up on me. So I turned around real fast and then realized it was me. We looked so terrible I didn't even recognize myself.

Here is a picture of the fan unit mounted to the wall outside the building the next morning.

Here is some pictures we took durring a break after four hours of shoveling and blasting. We made some progress but it wasn't over yet. I don't have any absolutely finished bare metal pictures. But you can see the the access panel where I had my head stuck in and the 6' lateral. My camera was full and I was just too wornout to care about the finished pictures. I wish I had though. Next time, I will, I promise!

The total was 14 hours start to finish, two men. We hauled fifteen 5 gallon buckets, so about 75 lbs of poo. Yuck!

I'm sure Ronnie Mears over at http://www.texasbestservice.com will have more pictures posted in a few days just give him some time to get that done. Don't forget to drop him a line or two.

Thanks Ronnie it was good to work with you. Let do it again sometime.

Matt,

You're right I must still be delerious. I meant 75 gallons not pounds.

Thanks

Guys great posting and feedback, we had alot a fun as you can see but I would have been trapped without Dave in my corner on this one. Dave thanks for the help.

You guys did great-Thanks

Hey Scott,

Sorry to say I am not in any of those horrible photos.
My days of grease date from before digital cameras were the norm.
I don't get dirty anymore.....But Matt sure does.
I personally think Matt is happiest when he is inside a duct.

I just wonder if the owner paid you guys a little extra ? You deserve it. Now, that is why I do not do hoods. I did two when we first started business back in 96 and that was it. Too messy for what ya get. Not to mention it took me as long to clean all my equipment as it did to do the jobs. No thanks.

One call power,

As a matter of fact we did get bonus! They cooked us a couple of huge Bacon Cheese Burgers with all the trimings on the wood burning grill and then handed them to us with a ten foot pole. I guess cause we were so dirty.

Those were best burgers I'd had in a while. I was so hungry I ate the garnish too.

What better way to prove the system is working properly. Fire that puppy up.

Call me crazy, but we got valuable experience that few in this field can deal with or have ever seen. I'm not comming down on you :) but I wouldn't wish that kind of a job on anybody.

I guess you could say that I've been blessed with the worst of the worst right out of the gate. "Thank you Lord" Checkout my post on the One Man vs Two Man Crew. It was nasty also, no pictures though.
