A kitchen fire caused by hot oil in Hong Fu Restaurant Thursday night shut down the restaurant Friday.
A sign out front told customers that the restaurant was temporarily closed for maintenance.
Santa Clara County Fire Department responded to a call that came in shortly before 4 p.m. Thursday. The Fire Department’s arson investigator determined that the fire was accidental and caused by hot cooking oil set in a cardboard box, a spokesperson said.
The fire department dispatched nine engines, which left the restaurant about 7:30 p.m. There were no injuries.
Damage was minimal and the restaurant will reopen Saturday, a spokesman said.
