PWNA General Topics, and suggestions

Chris Detter

New member
Hi Everybody,

I thought it would be nice to start a new positive thread.

I would like to know from those who belong to other organizations, what other kind of benefits we can look at that would pertain to and be of some real value to our members. Please be specific and positive. I will take all suggestions to the Board for discussion.
If you have literature or would like to mail it or fax it, please feel free to e-mail me (woody642@mindspring.com) and I will give you my address or fax number.

Thank you

Chris Detter

I think this is David's suggestion, since most of us are small businesses health insurance can be ridiculously expensive, could we through the PWNA obtain insurance as a group, and possibly get a better rate than we could individually .

Kmjt & Warren,

Thanks for asking, We are in the process of investigating that very issue now and have been for a few months. Initially we were told that is not possible due to the different health insurance rules that vary with different states, but since then we have contacted Aflack and were told because we are a non-profit organization there may be a way. I 've always wanted to offer health insurance to our members as well as an accidental death benefit. I will keep you posted. thanks again

Well lets see.

1. Update the PWNA web site at least once every 18 months so that the members maintain that feeling of time past. www.PWNA.org

2. I don't want to see the photos of the last show but they were promised on 1/24/02. Some of our members would like to see what they missed.

Baby Steps!

David

I think when I read David’s question I can see the sarcasm. But I don’t know if it intended or if he’s just like myself to darn busy to write the politically correct version. I’ve spoken to David on the phone over the years and look forward to meeting this pressure washer. In many ways I see myself when I see David speak. I stand behind this BBS to try and maintain a politically correct voice. Sometimes I wish I could let my hair down and run on and on.

I too see small things that don’t get done, I have asked to help with the Booths and getting new sponsors want to help with distributor members and I have volunteered to contact them and sell them on the pwna.

I’m hear to help, the meeting is only a few months down the road. I would like to see stats on where we are with the booth sales. Have we increased the distributor members?

Chris original question, I belong to several volunteer orgs that provide me with no benefits. I feel that my auto club does provide more than the PWNA.

Chris you have a tough job,, you cannot do this alone. (((((((((I want to hear the other members say that over the last couple years we have had problems.))))))) we cannot keep members and we need to fix this. we need a reason for people to join. You cannot go looking for members, we need members to want to come to us.

Other Board member,,, where are you????,,, stand behind your president,,,

The number one thing I see Chris is you need to have your Boards Support… I don’t see that, from talking with board members in the past they have expressed there are no problems.

I’m with you Chris, are they????????

I agree with David, Baby steps. I realize that it will take time. I have the time please make these people believe that you have a common goal. Most feel that you are fighting a battle that you can’t win.

I would like to see and hear form the new Management Company.

Lets get the negative in the open and deal with them one at a time…….

I can only be positive that we need to get real and fix the issues that cripple this org. I want to see the unity of this Board… not that they agree one everything but just agree that things need to change. (maybe a motto for your term)

WOW Ron,

I'm impressed:)

Yes Chris has a rough job, even Mike has not been around posting lately, is he with Chris on change or just busy with his own board or has he lost interest now that he is on the inside seeing how hard it is to deal with the old timers?

I was hoping this forum would be very active, like weekly rather then once a month or ever two month.

This board can spread the word more then the PWNA board ever will, not to say it won't take off but I believe the PWNA board has been up for several years with no activity.

When the going gets tough the tough get going.

Now is the time for Chris to stomp on some feet, mow em down and move forward, if they don't or won't change boot em out.

Old members are waiting on the sidelines to see some major changes before they invest again with the PWNA.

Ron I would like to suggest you help in this way, ask Robert and Joe to kindly step down and allow new blood to run the PWNA. THey have reaped their profits from it well over the years which is one of the reasons it was started in the first place.

You talk with them, your in with them so by you asking them to back away from "their baby" I believe Chris will find the going much easier.

That is a job in itself for you.

Maybe its just that Mike has been working till 9pm almost every day...........you know.........a deck cleaner in May..........what can I say? I have spent a total of ten minutes on my own board in the last whole month........so, its not that.

What exactly would you like to see Robert step down from?? He has not been a board member for years!

There is a committee hard at work right now on updating the PWNA website, and it is coming soon...........stay tuned.

Mike

Everything comes down to perception of the members and marketing. That site has not been cared for months-in fact we spoke about it several months ago. They could take the site down and put a construction image on the homepage-anything. Its like a junk car in the driveway-it looks bad and tells and shows thing that they should try to overcome.

David

Jon thanks for not starting anything personal. That situation between you and Robert should remain between you and Robert.

Let’s not bring personal attacks on anyone about the PWNA. These individuals work hard for free.

I would only expect those who are giving their advice would be willing to help if Chris asked.

These folks need constructive criticism back up by action!!!!!!! Help volunteering…. Our time. Trivial BS that happens between you and another member should be put aside.

Jon, I’m not picking on you specifically because of your comments. I share some of the stagnate hot air you have just better at holding back. Keep posting here because they need a reality check and we need to just straighten your path a little.

Hey Pwna people,

I realize y'all are waiting for some changes, I am too. we indeed have many changes that are in the works, some are just about to be presented. I guess I would have been impatient too if I was standing outside looking in. What's the old saying about walking a mile in someone elses moccasins, I can't blame you for your questions. and wonderings, like I said in Jan. It may take me my whole term (2 Years) to get it right, But I that is my goal.
Also please remember that Robert Hinderliter started the organization, but does not contribute anything in the running or guidance of the board of directors, )I don't know where y'all thought that up) Although he is well respected, He does not rule a thing with the PWNA. We have asked him to present the environmental certification course in Pittsburgh, which he graciously accepted, but thats as far as it goes.
I just thought I would use this opportunity to straighten that issue out.
Like I said before I will keep y'all abreast of the changes as they occur,, Please be patient, Thanks Chris Detter

PS It's still a kick as_ organization...........

Chris

Doesn't Aflack only sell supplemental insurance, not health insurance. From my experience (I am also an insurance agent) most health insurance company will not insure an association of any kind anymore.

The problem they say with insuring an association is that they get great participation initially, but after a while, all the health individuals and groups leave when the price goes up and all that is left are the unhealthy insureds.

The only insurance carrier that will take a look at an association is Aetna and they have some pretty stiff requirements. I have talk to about 20-25 different insurance carriers.

Thought this might help, since this seems to be a important issue with everyone and the PWNA.

Mike

Why can't PWNA answer just two questions.

1. Web Site update?

2. The pictures?

I am not asking whats new-I am asking about two items-simple.

David:confused:

Ok, gotta ask......

Is there a NEW test being presented by Robert? Or is it the SAME test, just being presented by Robert?

I couldn't help but notice that the same material is still posted on the web site.....

I thought I addressed both of these items already.

The website is in the works, by a couple of the board members. I really fail to see what is so wrong with the existing site.........its certainly better then if we just took it down and put up a "under construction" site! There was a minor change after the last show............

The pictures is simply my fault. I just havent found the time. I have over 100 pictures on my pc.............havent found the time to decide which ones to display, resize them and post them ONE AT A TIME. I just can't do it at the moment. Sorry.

Ron and all who read this, yes what transpired between Robert and I is old news, as far as I am concerned it is not only old but forgotten.

I cannot nor will not speak for him, I can only hope he has also put it in the past.

Enough.

Now Chris show me the money:cool:

Oh sorry, show me the changes, is that better?:D

Jon

Hey Mike, Thank you for that insurance info, I really appreciate it. I know nothing about insurance, I was just hoping that there is a way to offer our organization some sort of coverage as a benefit.
If not ay least we can say we tried,, Thank you again Chris

Kendra, We are having a BOD conference call this morning, I will find out what test they are using, I think it is a different test all together. I didn't call you back this am because I didn't think you wanted a call at 5am your time, Thanks Chris

Mike Thanks for getting some pictures up, Chris

What is this Test? that Kindra refers to.

David

Hey Kendra,

Yeah, I was right, the enviromental course and test questions are being written by Jim Hill and Robert Hinderliter as a team effort.

Thanks, Chris

David,

The test is for the Enviromental Cleaning Certification, the third of the PWNA's certifications.
