Clogged Lines

I need to flush some water lines that have a lot of calcium build up. This customer has a large pump that feeds six guns. There is a water pipe running along the legnth of the shop wall with six quick connect outlets leading to individual hose reels. I was thinking about setting up a circulating pump and flushing the lines with acid.

My question is. . .Is there a better way?

If not, what type of acid would you suggest?

Your help will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Descale Acid and Sulfuric acid are the same thing. Use that and a diaphram pump or a chemical pump that can handle acid. The only other way I can think of is to price out the cost of Acid and a pump compared to new plumbing and see which is cheeper.

Russell, in my life before PWing (ran chemical plants) we sometimes acid treated lines to remove buildup. Always tried acetic acid (vinegar) first, as it is a very weak acid; applicable for mild steel. B2

When you Descale pipe especially old ones you always take a chance of popping a hole in the pipe from rust being ate away. If the pipe is old I recommend replacing it instead of a patch job.
