Where to put the hose reels?

Hello Everyone,

Here's a quick question for ya......

Do you prefer you hose reels on the passenger side of the trailer or on the rear and pros and cons of each?

I have 2 high pressure's and my chem reel on the passanger side of my rig. I don't have anything stuck in my rear and I don't plan on it.

I have most of the hose reels on the passenger side so you are not parked against traffic. I used to have the hose reels in the back of the trailer before I kept on adding equipment, and more and more. hahaha

I also have 2 on the driver side but those are not used too much.

When I get my flatbed truck, I will get the stackable hose reels like Russ has and put them on the back of the truck.

I put mine on the back because that is what Russ does.

Mine are on the passenger side too.My pressure hose is mounted upside down on the ladder rack to save room.

I like reels on the sides. Doesnt matter which side. When I pull up to a house, I dont back into the driveway, I pull up on the curb so it makes it easier to pull hoses. The only downside is if the house is on the right and your hoses are on the left you have to do a U-turn. If your doing commercial, probably the back would be better.

I've got them mounted on the side for one rig, two other trailers have them mounted in back and the rig on my truck has one on each side in back and they rotate. I wish someone would come out with a good double stack rotating hose reel that would hold 300' of hose.

In an effort to conserve floor space we stack our hose reels. Sometimes we have projects that we need to be able to haul supplies and they can fill up the remaining floor space.

No leaks so far.I don't know why it would matter because the swivel is not holding any weight only the base is mounted to the ladder rack.It also makes it easier to reel up, no bending over.

I've been away for several years and out of the business..but I am ready to get back in and thought I'd start here.....I'm glad I did because the helpfulness of the people on this forum is second to none.

Now back to the question at hand.....

I was leaning toward mounting on the side of the trailer when I posted the question. I think that is the way I will go.....

I hadn't thought about it before, but Dave Olsen made a good point about being able to haul other supplies.

I also think I will mount them overhead as it would allow for easier side access if needed. I won't have to reach over them to get to a wand or whatever.

Part of the reason for me putting the hose reels on the top rail of the passenger side is to make more room on the floor of the trailer, have the hose reels easier to get to, keep the truck/trailer on the right side of the road because the controls to the hot water rig are on the same side so you are not out in traffic working or rolling up hoses, and if you are doing a lot of residential, the hoses go straight out from the trailer onto the property instead of being out in the street or where cars can park on the hoses (they will say that they did not see the hoses).

Just the way I wanted them for now, when I get the flatbed truck, the hoses will be on the back of the truck but without a trailer, it will take up less room and I will set out more cones or maybe just park in their driveway. hahaha

I think that it depends on what you are washing. passenger Side for residential, and back for commercial.

Passenger side works well for both, we do it everynight like this. We do have 1 off the rear, but that was just for lack of room.

Nope, I had mine mounted upside down, to the cap of my truck. I didn't have any problems with leaking.
