Surface cleaner lost/stolen

Last night when finishing work I strapped down the surface cleaner to my new trailer. The straps are held down via 2 I bolts that had lock washers as well as locking nylon nuts on it. This evening I made it to dinner and noticed while sitting inside that it was missing. Now the way my Big Guy's are setup is not using the gun, so there is a 90* elbow coming off the swivel, no couplers or plug, then the hose is routed up the left handle and zip tied onto that side of the surface cleaner. The tie down strap was under the hose and up against the swivel. The I bolt pulled up through the wood then I am guessing ripped off the zip ties that held on the hose. From that point the only thing that had it held down was the strap onto one of the I bolts.

Point is be very careful how your rig is put together. One simple flat washer could have prevented this from happening (there was one on the other I Bolt) if this was not stolen off the trailer and did in fact work itself loose. This can be a disasterous position for a small business owner especially without the protection of LLC or corp. If this were to have went through someones windshield or made someone fly off the road i could be applying with Russ or Ron in the near future to repay that debt that insurance may not cover? Around here people sue for 30 million for being treated unfairly at work because they are homosexual, so imagine if they would have lost a life.

Point being if your pulling a rig and you have items that are not stationary, IE. wands, surface cleaners; please double check your equipment and restraint devices for these objects and save yourself the headache of purchasing another or in this case using another a spare you already have.

Any ideas on how to

Man that sucks, I'm sure you would rather think that it fell off than to think someone took it. I hate a thief. I lost a ladder a month ago off my pick-up because my help forgot to tie it on. Again, could've been a disaster. Won't happen again, unless I forget to shut the door to my new box truck.

I had an 8' fiberglass ladder fly out of the bed of my truck last year on the highway and thank God that it did not go through a windshield.

I pulled over and retrieved it because it had my company name all over it and I did not want it there for someone else to run over it again.

The hinges are still good. hahahaha

The Steel Eagle 24" and my Classic are in the front of the trailer with a cable and lock to help prevent theft and it has worked good.

I tell you we got a lot to thank the Lord for some days, I've had some pretty close calls already while on the road too.

Had a wheel bearing go out on the trailer and I was on the 4 lane and that tire jump outa there and went acroosthe road thru the median and acroos the other lanes, and the sucker was on fire!! Man that will that will make your heart skip a beat!!!!

Speaking of trailer wheel bearings, don't forget to keep them greased and check to make sure that they don't have a lot of slop in them.

I have a total of 6 trailers and I've had my share of wheel bearing trouble. Ask me I know what it's like to be sitting beside the road, it ain't fun.

Anymore I try to have the tools and parts to fix right there and keep on trucking, but some of the guys I have working ain't that mechanical minded so it don't help some of them.

Keep all my expensive tools in my E250 extended van......

I have bearing buddies on my wheel bearings.....makes it easy to keep them greased and so far have had good luck with them. Anyone else use bearing buddies or know of any issues with them?

Man, back in Florida a few years ago a contractor had his ladder fall off on the Buckman bridge and the car behind it went off the side into the water killing the couple. They were on vacation as it was.

Gotta be like Santa and check them twice because the people who owned the business are in deep...like jail time!

I try to make sure that everything is secured in the truck now and on the trailer, I and a helper (if using one that day) will walk around the truck and trailer both directions around it so make sure that everything is secured, nothing hanging out and nothing that can fly out with the wind.

It would suck to hurt someone or kill someone because something came off your vehicle because you were too lazy or forgot to check your stuff.

Imagine trying to explain that to the judge at the murder trial. You would look so much like a dumba** and everyone would hate you and your company and imagine the bad publicity you would get, I am sure it would ruin you and your company.

It just takes a couple minutes to make sure everything is secure and safe.
