Pulling hose across a roof from a lift

If you need to pull hose across the roof from a lift a little $29.00 clamp-on hose reel from Sears does the trick.

For pulling up we just throw the leader over the reel and go up. When we get to the top we leave the bucket high enough and close enough to the edge that the hose doesn't scrap against the side and simply start walking. The rolling resistance is almost zero.

For bringing it back down we leave the bulk of the hose on the roof and walk the gun back to the reel. We pull the first section of hose away from the reel, put the gun section on the reel and start hand cranking it down till we can throw down the rest of the hose on top of it.

That way the gun is on the bottom of the pile and there's no birds nest as we use the electric reel to spool it back up.

Here it is:

I'd probably chit myself first time in that bucket...see it shake!

Very ingenuitive Tony.

Here is how it pulls once you get on the roof.

What's your setup time?

great videos.....I am glad most of my cleaing is on the ground or no more than 2 floors up.......me and heights dont go together very well

What's your setup time?

On average we are on the roof within 1 1/2 minutes of putting the truck in park. We start the PW from the remote while on the roof.

Takedown time is about twice that because we have to spool up the hose. The electric reel does it pretty fast.

We're very fast! :crazy_pilot:

BTW, Lou the background song on this one is especially for you....:grin-angelic:

How many foot is that lift of yours and what did it cost you? I wish I could find a decent 45' ART lift. I've thought about buying a boom truck but I'm not sure how much maintenance is involved in one.

61ft. The maintenance costs me about $300 per year plus every two years batteries cost about $800.00. I think I paid around $42k when all was said and done, but I overpaid because I wanted one with a warranty and didn't know what I was doing in that market.

My bucket truck cost the same on maintenance as any other truck + $350.00 safety inspection and annual maintenance. I had 22 inch tires so a new set cost over $2k.

great info, do you try to target mostly filter cleaning that you can use the lift on?

Great info Tony, Thanks.
