Well after second viewing I determand that the only thing that was evan worth doing was the heavy use 14 foot hood, but get this I took out center filter and grease was literly dripping down from the duct! after further inspection They had installed a round insulated duct going around an area that contuers 90 degs and unable to determan what type of pipe they used to get it to the upper duct? also noticed that the duct goes out and up about 4 floors outside to the roof mounted inline utility van that has just a straight stack, and you can see grease leaking from the seams. O'Well I think that I should pass on this one!

Hold on one second.
You certainly have every right to turn it down, but from what you have described it would appear to me that this system has not been cleaned properly ever. This needs to be done by someone, and most likely for big $$$$$$$. If you where to take them on a little tour, educate them about what is supposed to be done, and what needs to happen to get it done, maybe they will see the light.
Of course this all depends on your experience and how comfortable you are getting the work done, if you have any doubts then by all means keep walking. Just maybe give it a second thought.

I talked with the AHJ and stated my reason for not doing the job! well I think I acted In the best iterest of my personal and proffessional expertise. I think it would be a great money making opportunity but I dont want to stake my home and put myself in a position that will harm anyone, the way I see it is someone knows somewhat of the problem that exsist know so I feel good for my efforts......Other than that I will continue to look for easy and less complicated work that will maintain my Image, Thanks for all your help you guys!!!! Just mabe you all saved my rear$$

but I dont want to stake my home [/B]

I can understand walking away from a monster, but my questions are to your reference of losing your home, Is your company incorporated and do you carry full liability insurance? Not to mean just because you are covered that it gives you carte blanche to do a less than professional job, but you must cover yourself in this era of major subrogation!

Don't be suprised if this happens.
You have put them on notice that a problem does exist, now when they call other companies in to get quotes to clean it, if they tell them the history, unless one of the other companies has expierence with this kind of thing, they are either going to turn it down, or stick their foot in thier mouth letting the people at the hospital know that they don't know what they are doing.
In either case they may come back to you asking for help.
this has happened to me a couple of times. I guess you still have the right to say no though. Just a thought
