Convention committee and the UAMCC Convention

Anyone that has gone to the UAMCC Convention in Orlando or even the ones that couldn't make it has anyone heard of the Convention committee headed up By Rob Huffman having done a bad job??

Apparently the ED wasn't happy with him and another Committee member probably being a little misguided by the ED had somewhat of a negative opinion about Rob's volunteering but what about everybody else??

I would like to hear there thoughts and also I think Rob deserves an "Atta boy" by the ones who did go. So what say you??

John
Do you know how many people actually paid. I heard rumors that the vendors received 4 passes to give their contractors.
Anyway if a hundred paid times what 250...that's 25000. Sounds to me the guy did a pretty good job considering it was the orgs first year.

For what it is worth, Cleaner Times declared the convention a success. Of course, I can't imagine that they would do anything different. Sometimes, I think that the ED at the UAMCC, thinks that if it was not done the way he wanted, with absolute control, he can't be happy with it.

Anyone who gives freely of themselves should not be ridiculed.

Bingo--Grandslam right there. Thats what I always said about these org's and yet this is what has happened. If its your job like the ED has one than you have the right to say what you want nto him but to hurt a volunteer..thats where they crossed the line and this is why they now have a serious Public relations problem.

I feel bad for the next set of Volunteers at the UAMCC since the President elect there has made it clear that they can redicule a volunteer publically because of there right of Freedom of speech whether the President elect agree's with it or not.

The BOD elects should take a long look at this post right here and put themselves in Robs position where he donated thousands of dollars, Used Robs Resources free of charge and the hundred of Hours Rob gave to this org. and then the President elect comes out with a rediculous statement like that. I feel bad for the next guy/gal.....and good luck to you because you can't say that you weren't warned. Also on top of that this started with your ED. Think about that one. You volunteer, he gets paid and he works for you but he slams you to another because in his eyes you didnt give the org enough.........Garbage!!

I know he wasn't. Its the point he made about Volunteers in general and thats the Homerun.

John, I dont mean to come in on your thread like that. It pisses me off when people do that to.

If there was ever a "good ol day" it was back when I found the cleaner network and read and read all that info. Good stuff. Id just like to find some good stuff again.

For what it is worth, there are more good current threads on this BBS then there are with the UAMCC threads. In my opinion, I think that it is a part of being fully informed about what type of people are in various organizations are doing to promote the organization, the members of the organization, and the industry as a whole.

Just personal opinion, but every time I see a UAMCC thread, I feel a little sick, because, with the proper leadership, that would consider the input of all, it could be a very effective organization. I have even thought about starting a competing org, but I have a thriving, growing business, with no one but me and my wife to manage it. That being the case, I could not justify dedicating the time I would need to build an organization. For what it is worth, I would also probably not go the non profit route, because of all the legal hurdles and hassles, but I would be up front and honest about it, instead of teasing that it is under review...

as far as starting another organization you and I and everyone else are already being taken care of with representation whether we want it or not.....

The United Association of Mobile Contract Cleaners www.uamcc.org is a national association representing the mobile contract cleaner/pressure washing industry. Our representation entailsa conglomerate of areas that either directly or indirectly impacts the mobile contract cleaning industry and the contractors that fulfill pressure washing services. In this capacity, the UAMCC does play an active role on a national level relating to the merits of the Clean Water Act in which we have provided consultation and/or advice to Level I, II & III municipalities
