These guys don't own equipment, they have no experience with the CWA.

I will not tolerate this Stuff by anyone....

I have been fighting wrongs in my industry before these two people ever thought about my industry much less the CWA.

Give me a break. What a bore fest. I can tell you everything you need to know without a workshop. These guys are just bringing attention to and stating the obvious. The fact of the matter is this is a waste of time. I think the orgs should spend more time recruiting new members. Then train the members. When we cottle to these people we give them strength. Big shocker of the video if you hook up to a city owned hydrant you need a permit. Big shocker don't let wash water enter a storm drain system. This is a ridiculous law anyway. Were do they think this water goes when it rains. How about spending some of this money we give to third world countries to add ows to storm drain systems. If they truly cared they would look at long term solutions. Pressure washer run off into storm drains has been out lawed for years. This just leads to more small businesses never cleaning. Then when it rains we are still getting the polution. Intead of slowly all at once. I agree Ron. This is all crap.

We actually Agree on Something Tom, here's the place of misinterpitation....http://www.enpac.com/_bucket/2StormwaterRegulations.pdf

Here's the Old for the City of Phoenix http://phoenix.gov/STREETS/sectionaf.pdf

Ron, I just caught this post today. I don't know how I missed it.

For an organization to take the stance of "Just tell us what to do" and "just tell us what we have to do and we will comply" is an unacceptable stance for an industry to take.

We need to get together and locate studies or spend our money on studies that will back up the common sense approach that was highlighted by Tom in his post above.

Why didn't you get up on the podium Guy?

After what is happening with politics and global warming are all your guys still thinking I'm crazy when I say there's a chance we can stand up fight AGAINST any local regulations that go over and above the base fed requirement?

O No!!! I'm no public speaker!!! I did get to meet and speak with each of the Charlotte Panel Members. I think they were really amazed at the shear number of Contractors that showed up for the workshop.

What do you mean by "Your Guys"? You're one of my guy's aren't you Tony???

As you mentioned in a thread before, when you have hard data to back up your views on a City or County BMP, they have to look at that.

Thing is, these officials are not out there to put us out of business (although they could) but just like customers they need to be educated about our Industry and its impact on society. They have no clue.

Absolutely we as Contractors can band together and work to make sure local and State BMP are fair for both sides. Thats why I went to Charlotte, I was there in support of the Contractors

Hahaha! That's funny! That was a typo. It should have said "you" guys not "your" guys. :killingme::killingme:

That's so funny. One time one of my neighbors found a dog starving with no water in a neighbor's back yard. She left a note for them to please water the dog. They came to her house mad and yelling at her and she said "You people just don't care about anything of value". (She meant "renters" as opposed to homeowners) What she didn't know was that they were gay! And the "You people" comment made it to the local gay paper and people actually protested our homeowners association because they said we against gays in our neighborhood!

Anyway, I meant You guys, not YOUR guys.......Guy!
:sarcastic::sarcastic::sarcastic:

LOL, O.k. then let me ask you this, "You Guys Who?" You mean a PW Contractor, or You Guys as in the You know Who?????:rotflmao:

All the guys in BBS land! They all think I'm crazy for wanting to fight against more unnecessary GREEEEEEEEEEN legislation

No I don't think you're crazy in this thinking. But I will say that fighting would be the wrong word.

Working with these Officials is the only way to accomplish your ultimate goal. You see they have the last say. By stating your case with proof the the form of other City or County BMP's, and other hard data is the way to work with them.

Fighting, bucking, or pissing off these Officials will make them drop the Hammer on you, now you're talking about Lawyers and a crap load of money.
Working with them on a Professional Educated level is the way to get our point across.

Thats whats Needed, this is nothing agaist Carlos or Mike personally.

The UAMCC is now the voice of contractors.

A team of GOV, Dist & Contractors need to be assembled.

The UAMCC has no business going to battle, one or two men that have no experience should not be representing the Industry.

I hope before the UAMCC goes to that cause again they actually get educated by the proper authoritys.

Dist & often citys do not know the sensible solution.

I'm not and expert and would never claim to be the person, but I do know the fundamentals and understand that theres more to this that what meets the eye.

We all need to have a solution.

I will be writing and Awareness manual.

The PWNA is doing some sort of campaign for eviro awareness also in 2010.

You need to work with tem for sure, first we all need a 101 in this area so we as a group can be more educated.

I would love two hours with the currect BOD to give them a quick course. Once they know the difference between a storm system and a retention or dry well they will have a better understanding.

Second so you knwo they wanted reclaim on House washing, that goodness someone talk some sense into them.

The people respresenting us should be versed...

Ron I agree with everything you said except, the Uamcc is not now nor will it ever be the voice of the Contractor, it is the voice of it's membership (IMHO).

Contractors don't need Orgs. to make sure BMP's are fair, Contractors need Contractors to make sure that the BMP's are fair.

Look at it this way, if a Contractor in say Nashville TN posted that their city was about to have a meeting like Charlotte, then every Contractor that could, should show up at that meeting in support of the Contractors in that City. And have in their possession information that could help those Contractors work with these Officials in forming fair BMP's. Information that will help the "Powers That Be" understand our Industry better "Through Education".

I went to Charlotte in support of Contractors like Josh Welch & Jerrod, and if the same thing happens in my area (and it will), I would hope these Contractors would show up and support me, and I think they would.

This is a good statement. I agree with what Guy is saying here except I also think its nice to have an Org. back the contractor who is sticking his neck out to work with there local officials to help form the basic BMP's. All the help a contractor can get on these matters the better off they are as long as them and the org that wants to help them are on the same page. We don't need an org. that wants to change the BMP's nationwide without considering that each state may have different standards here. We would need an org. to be very flexible on this so they can help the contractors in each area that are up against the officials in there area.

This is alot more complicated then many make it seem. Either way the more voices with legitimate backgrounds that want to help a particular contractor the better chance that Contractor can make things happen for the betterment of the industry and more importantly the better it is for them and there business.

You're absolutely correct John, It would be nice to have an Org. have our back. But lets face it, there isn't one right now.

The Uamcc is in building mode, this is (IMO) going to take 6-8 months or more. The PWNA is in rebuilding mode. So who's left...... Contractors!!!!

Ron brought up a great idea, write an action plan for just such an event. A book of information, suggestions, guidelines, and BMP's from other areas friendly to our trade. This plan could be shipped to wherever needed to help the Contractors in that area.

Contractors For Contractors

I love it when "others" who work their asses off, make a difference - then get forgotten. Sorry but I have just gotten a HUGE case of attitude here. Think myself and my multiple personalities need to take a 6 month sabbatical from all BBS boys :(

See ya'll.
