    Hang Tite

We have been cleaning roofs for a couple of years. It seamed like it was taking them more time to clean then it should with more cleaner. We got some Hang Tite from PWS and used it on a couple of roofs yesterday. Came cleaner faster and less soap.

I agree Lenny, I have been cleaning roofs since 1999. I use hang tight on steep shingle roofs and it helps keep the solution on the roof. It only makes sense if the cleaning solution stays on the roof it will clean faster and do a better job.
    Just my opinion.

    Do you mean PWP Lenny?
How much of that stuff are you guys putting in your roof mix? I tried a 1/2 gallon to a 50 gallon mix once and had so much runoff it wasnt funny. More than usual is what I mean.

The Hang Tite will not prevent runoff and it will not make it thick like syrup.

What it does is helps it "cling" better than using most other soaps out there. Since trying the Hang Tite, my roof cleaning time has dramatically shortened, I use less mix and there is less runoff. I will explain.

By using the Hang Tite from PWP or PWS (both are correct, they sell products and service equipment for decades and decades) it does not fight with your roof chemical (lots of soaps out there will fight with the SH and start to make it weaker) so you get the strength up there that you need.

By having a better dwell time, it is sticking there to do what you want it to do (spraying until it is running off is not only wasteful but looking to harm plants and grass) so the overall time on the job is less since there is less shooting areas several times or more because the roof mix just runs off without being there long enough to do what it has to do. Remember, this is not like house washing, you are not trying to flood the roof, just apply enough chemicals to do the job where house washing you end up flooding the sides by applying the soap but it still ends up doing a good job but roof washing, if you flood the roof you are just wasting chemicals, time and money along with taking a big chance of damaging the greenery.

There are tricks to spraying roofs so there is no runoff but you also have to get enough up there to do the job, just comes in time with practice.

Make sure that you are getting a strong enough % hitting the roof otherwise you are just wasting time and money.

I am adding 1 quart per 50 gallon mix, for steeper roofs I am adding another 1/2 quart. For tile roofs I am using 2 quarts and that does great.

Nobody said it will prevent runoff, but with good application, it will be a lot less runoff than other soaps out there. Most of the dish soaps out there that guys use end up fighting the SH thus making it weaker and using more chemicals for the job and the job takes longer than it should.

By using the Hang Tite, it helps the roof chemical stick up there, it does it's job, you use less chemical and you are done with the job overall a lot faster than using other soaps out there.

A lot of jobs I cut my time in 1/2, most others I easily cut the time by 1/3 there on the job.

By having so much runoff like you mention, you are obviously overspraying quite a bit.

Are you adding other things to the mix besides the Hang Tite and SH? If so, that is probably the problem, I only use those besides water and a few secret ingredients but those are not things that will make or break the runoff issues you are having, you are probably just spraying too much.

You guys going to Tampa? If so, there will be a lot of great roof cleaning contractors from all around the country there that can help and answer a lot of questions you have.

I did get mine from PWP. Spending less time on the job is what I like. We were losing jobs because I had to charge too much. Now I can get closer to what other guys are charging.
Chris, are you saying you are only using the Hang Tite and Sh in the water?

Lenny, that is true. I do add a couple other things in there for personal preference but that is up to you, part of the lasting cleaning, marketing and overall job quality.

Are you going to the Tampa event?

If I had to guess just from talking to most guys off of the BB's, most guys use only SH water and a soap of their choice. All else is really just an added expense.

Chris, I know theres going to be runoff. Ive known that the last 2 years Ive cleaned roofs. What I meant was there was alot more of it then usual. In other words, the amount of A-LO I put in didnt seem to be enough. It was the first time I used it and I dont ever add anything else to my roof wash.
I know I wasnt spraying too much, I have my technique and its always worked fine. That paticular time the solution seemed to runoff alot and I figured I just needed more soap. The roof still came clean and the customer was happy.
Im all for saving time on a job and in materials. But at $30/gallon shipped and it takes half of it to make a descent solution, (which I wasnt entirely happy with) I guess I'll stick with what Ive always used and know will work.
It seems to be a poplular product that is successful with you and others, thats great.

Not had a chance to use the M yet but I love the lo. Less run off in my experience.... but again each to his own. I just enjoy the fact that I can leave it in my tank and not worry about any degradation of the SHC. Specifically in my house wash tank.

I use 1 qt. of hang tite to 50 gallons of mix. I am old school and use SH and water. I have tried a lot of additives and had no better results (other than a white residue on the roof) than Sh and water. Yes I have gone back and checked roofs cleaned with additives 1, 2 and 3 years later and see no difference than ones cleaned with water. Hang tite works for me on steep roofs. Just my opinion!
PS Hang tite is expensive, in my opinion.

    Same here.

Great results, helps with the cling, cuts down on time on the job, that is easily a winner in my book!

Like they say, you can't make everyone happy all the time or something like that.

Keep looking and trying things until you find what works to your own liking, that is all you can do when what you try does not work to your liking even though it works for others.

When you find something that works good for you, tell others so you can help them out to save them some time, money and effort, we all try to help each other out.

I have been using A-Lo for a month now and I think it definatley has reduced runoff, and production time. A worthy investment (for us) BTW we are using 2qt/50gal

I got in some of the Amonyx M so I can give it a try on the steep tile roofs, I am optimistic that it will do great, those tile roofs sure are slippery.

I have been using the M for well over a month and I will never use anything else again! I have also used the Lo in the past. I don't know that the Lo really reduced my runoff any. I used it in almost the same proportions as Ultra Concentrated Dawn.

Ammonyx M has really reduced my runoff and really cut down the amount of times I have to hit stubborn stains. My roofs look much better when I use the M.

The M and the Lo are very different products. Try the M if you haven't. I think it is great stuff.
