Should I buy it?

Beating this thread to death...

My next question is, how can a machine just "catch" on fire... Better yet, how could it be prevented?

I originally thought that the melted tank was due to the tank being to close to the machine. After reading the previous posts and reviewing the video again, I noticed obvious burn marks on the back of the skid frame next to the fuel tanks.

It's like trying to piece back together a plane crash for me, i guess.

What kind of burner malfunction would produce enough sparks to ignite a fire?
Did the lack of insulation in the previous burner play a part in this as well?
(It looks like at least the insulation is new)

Just trying to find out what not to do!

Pretty sure that the owner could explain all this, and i don't appreciate the dishonesty!

Thanks again for the education,
This forum truly ROCKS!!!

:victory:

Just talked to the guy on the phone and he said that he would take $1950 for it all. Catch is, he said the burner isn't working and it's sitting in the shop right now down at Superior Cleaning Equipment in Phoenix.

I will be there when they open in the A.M. to talk with Greg and check it out...

What's the worst case scenario here?

Worst case scenario is you allow these guys to offer a reach-around.

It could have happened as easily as a loose fuel tube that connects up at the burner. I had a local guy work on my machine many years ago and he couldn't figure it all out (it is a hotsy and they use relays and rectifiers in the control box) and I found out that the tube was not tight when the fuel caught on fire.

I am lucky that I was close to the rig when it caught on fire and put it out with a fire extinguisher. I located the loose fitting and tightened it and everything was ok.

Things could have gotten very bad in just moments as I noticed diesel all over the boards of the trailer below the burner area, the trailer could have caught fire also in just a small bit of time if the fire had gone on without me seeing it.

Just a reminder to keep a fire extinguisher on the trailer close by just in case.

Guess my suggestion to you 2 weeks ago to go see Phil and John down at AAA went in one ear and didn't registrar. The snakes at Superior would sell you that piece of crap. AAA wouldn't even have that disaster on their property.

At least the need for a hot water rig is finally being entertained.

The offer still stand, call me Jim and I will help you get started and find a decent rig.

Thanks Jim, and an internship may be in order as well!

Do you hear that? I think your phone is ringing...
;)

Jim you should have asks for Howard first....Phil works for AAA. Howard is outside sales and was the old owner.

Oh well.....Phils a good guy you would have just got a better deal through Howard.

All in all AAA is good. They are a good alternative to others in the valley.

I wont trash Talk Greg over at Superior because its jsut not my style. Greg Charges alot but has the best stuff by far.

He is doing that old customer a favor and probably didnt think it would show up on the web. Greg was not selling that Right? its just sitting in his yard? Is that right?

Jim C, please lets not Bash others in our industry we have not delt with. Superior is just a high end dealer with better equipment.

Landa is far superior than Hydrotek, everyone knows this and understands this machine is built very different than most. Those who dont own LANDAs will always hate us that do.

I own seven hydroteks and they are great. They are my second Choice and we have had great success with them for around 10 years ago when I bought my first one from AAA

That's fair Ron. Some people swear by Fords, others Chevy's. And some people think Smart cars are Smart (they make great caskets).

I've sat down face to face with Greg and told him I wouldn't buy an o ring from him or Superior. Not bashing anyone, just trying to help out a newcomer. That trailer rig isn't worth $500, and that's primarily for the trailer and hose reels. The skid is junk and for anyone to give the impression it's repairable or worth dumping money into is just scandalous.

Howard fed you a line at CETA. Call John or Phil and find out the truth.

That would be a disservice to sell that to a unsuspecting customer. I have bought old beat up machines from dealers but they werent actively trying to sell them. I could buy it and make it work for me but I know how to fix anything pressure washer or burner related. If your in the service related industry you need to serve not screw your customer. just sayin

I think its just being stored there, I dont believe the dealer is selling it. Its more like a Favor to another customer. Lets see if thats true???

That is true.
I probably need to set the record straight at this point.

From what i can tell through the smokescreen that the owner of this rig has created, the owner (which will remain nameless), simply dropped his trailer off at the Landa Service Department just to get it running so that he could get it sold easier. After that, he posted it on Craigslist.

When i showed up at Superior the next morning, nobody there new that it was up for sale.

I think that if it's still down there, they're waiting to see if someone's going to actually pull the trigger on getting it running.

As for Gregg, he has been nothing but professional to me. From what i can tell, is that it's just the Landa equipment that is expensive...

If there's any trash talk going on here, it should be from me because i'm the OP, dang it!

It's everything that i can do to keep from flagging this guys post on C/L and going off about being blatantly lied to. The more people that i talked to, the more that i learned about this guys rig. It didn't take long to realize that a "town" of what..? 3Million people, word travels fast in our industry. Scandalous people and shady outfits don't last long in the Valley. Which seems to be the case here.

Point well taken!

What is it with Gilbert?
Any of you guys seen this old Alkota?

Sweet rig, do you think that it has some potential?

I found the perfect trailer for it...

Okay now i'm freaking out, because that phone number looks vaguely familiar.

I've been watching that posting as well. It is a Big Tex, but it must be a train wreck also, because it's been on for well over a a week now.
Consider the source, right?
:drag:

I may offer 2500 am, you might offer it first. I have some who can pick it up for you. That's a great unit. It's and old landa but that's a great model.

Okay, an offer has been sent via email!

Looks like real money maker and it would tow awesome behind my Jeep Cherokee.

From what i can tell from the pics, it looks like a PGHW5 without a minute over 200hrs.

If we can't grab it up, maybe somebody else can...

Dang it! I was in the neighborhood today, so I stopped by SCE to take take another look.

They cleaned up the varnish, replaced the fuel pump and installed a new battery. The electrode/s needed replaced and after Rodger pulled up the service records, the coil and insulation was replaced back in '07.

The repair bill was $555.

I went out back, fired it up and shot my Jeep.

Gotta say it "felt" pretty good!!!

So, I thought really hard again about buying it if the price was right.

Later I called the owner back to get no answer and found out the Craigslist posting had been deleted...

Probably a blessing in disguise!

Thanks again guys!!!
