two machines, only get to keep one

hi there

Selling my biz and one pressure washer goes with the package, so I paid $1600 for it couple years ago 5.5GPM , little use so far. I was "shopping" on craigslist for an used PW to leave to the new owner, and I don't want to buy them a headache, so I needed something in running condition and good specs.

Found this Hotsy (see pics), 4.8gpm 3500PSI mounted on a welding cart, with a steel eagle reel and 300ft of hose, the swivel on the reel has a grease fitting.Paid $700 for it.

Hotsy starts on the first pull, engine idles fine, and it has good pressure.

The PROs : Heavy machine but rolls smoothly on the cart, the reel is a big plus and the amount of hose too
The CONs : Is running fine, but don't know how old it is or how many hours it has, I know what's the deal with mine.

NOTE : Check this Link for the NEWER machine (One I own since "new", it was a demo machine)

What do you guys recommend? Keep my machine with a GP pump and "steal" the reel and hose? maybe mount mine on the welding cart? Or keep the Hotsy as it is ?

I also thought about buying a $400 used one 4GPM direct drive, keep the Hotsy and sell the newer one for almost what I paid for it

Shed some light for me here, I'm moving overseas and taking the machine with me, and rebuild kits and parts are not easy to find neither cheap.

Where overseas are you going? The Hotsy may be tough to source parts for later on due to the proprietary pump. The AR on your big machine is made in Italy, and is pretty international, as well as the Briggs engine.

I'd keep the Allison, or sell everything and buy one wherever you are going.

The injector can be mounted on the pump head or at the reel...your choice.

Thanks for the quick reply Russ (as usual)

I'm going to South America, and the place where I can get them, and it's closer to me, it's Brazil, and it might be a tough call.
Equipment won't be used nearly as much as you guys use yours, not even on a daily basis, so I guess if I cover my but taking one rebuild kit for the pump I'm pretty much done. Parts for the small engine can't be that hard to find.

Buying a machine there is a NO NO, just checking prices and the ones you can get at Home depot here, 3gpm or so for less than $500 are selling there for $1500

Will try to play with a little bit and see if I can change them from cart to cart, that way I can keep the Allison on the same cart where the reel is.

Russ, share a link with me for the right down streamer for that machine on your store, and I have to look, but in the past you send me a link for the rebuild kit for the AR.

Check for any import tax that you might be liable for. A buddy of mine is headed to costa rica and was recently informed he owes $16k in import tax for $8k in equipment he already shipped there!
It's in customs about to be escheated to the country!
It's not worth paying the tax, but he needs the equipment, and customs will not release it , even to send it back, w/o the tax paid!
