30" Floater

I have not seen a floater that size. If you have maybe 8gpm going through a mosmatic without the castor wheels (remove them) it might float.

That would be an interesting experiment to do. I think if you ask around and see who has the mosmatic in that size, maybe they could take the castors off and see if it will float but only if they have 8 or more gpm running through it.

I have seen a few guys with 8gpm make the 19" classics fly in the air so maybe it would work with the larger mosmatics.

I don't think the heavier units like the Steel Eagle, Silver Eagle, Big Guy, etc.... would hover but the 36" maxima has castor wheels but you would need even more gpm's to float that one.

The only thing I don't like about the floaters is holding up the handle (could probably modify it like Hydrotek does) to hold the handle up and trying to go in straight lines. If the handle was solid like the Big Guy, Steel Eagle, etc.... then it might be easier to go in straight lines.

Good luck.

Chris C I have enough on my plate with regard to testing. (You are supposed to be taking over in 2012, remember?)

I have a 30 mosmatic commercial surface cleaner, connected to a 8gpm hot water unit, 3 bar 2.5 nozzles, 3600 psi head pressure, 200ft of 1/2 hose with 3/8 ends it does not float but it feels lighter than it was without water through it. how much????? errrr...50%

I could do the experiments if someone wants to send me the 30" mosmatic surface cleaner to experiment with, I don't have one.

We could figure out how many gpm's it would need to start hovering, I am guessing at least 10gpm but probably closer to 13 or 15gpm.

There is probably a specific purpose for the hover type of that size but was not mentioned but with about 15gpm it might start hovering even with the castor wheels on it.

I agree, maneuvering it without castors will be an issue when no water is flowing through it.

If it was me, I would rather put tires on the back and leave the front 2 castors there so it would be more like a Big Guy or Steel Eagle, you could steer it with a couple fingers and keep very long straight lines when cleaning.

My friend Joe made a 24" stainless steel surface cleaner into a big guy type with tires on the back and he says it works good.

The large wheels in the back and the stationary handle are good for your arms, shoulders and back when cleaning large areas of concrete.

If my Classic had a handle and tires like the big guy then I would use it more than my big guy or steel eagle, it would be like a Landa Water Jet but without the adjustable height. Now that I have swivels that last many times longer, I would like to try to get one of the classics rigged up like the big guy.

With the Big Guy or Steel Eagle, you can push it and steer it with a few fingers on one hand while pulling the hose with the other hand, no problem at all.

There is the Cyclone out there that is almost what I want but I have heard from reputable sources that the swivel does not last too long. I wish I could see one and measure it so I could see if I could put the swivel and spray bar from the Classic onto it to make it last longer, then that would be my favorite surface cleaner.

That would be great to see pictures of that if you could find them Greg.

Thanks.

was thinking bout dragging a couple of them behind a sidebyside for some wide sidewalks we have. redneck swabby. trying to keep costs down and figured the poly decks would be cheap, i guess i could just grab some swivels and spray bars and weld up a deck and wheel it. 60" would be a bitch to push for miles,,lol. my 38" sucks after a couple hours of hose draggin. feeding them with 2 8gallon. Im getting jealous of kenny over at green earth he had steel eagle make him a 50"....gotta one up him;-) gotta pic of that thing somewhere, ill try n find it....sucker is heavy as hell from what i understand. thanks for the insight guys. Nigel you are definitely the official tester, Im surprised vendors arent sending you tons of products, you are very analytic when it comes to that and put some good info out here.

Nicholas would love to see the pics of that 60" surface cleaner. (like your website)

Thanks for the vote on my backyard testing, i get asked a questions from quite a few pressure washers in the US and overseas on the few youtube pw videos I have done. (I also dont hesitate to contact/congratulate individuals on their videos/info )

I would like to see the release of the one latest that RobertH and Jim Gamble filmed of me illustrating the pros and cons of two models of vacuum surface cleaners. i should have taken a copy of the file.
