Select Phone software

?????

I use Select Phone for my contact lists and future contacts. I manage my Contacts using Act. It is a great combo for me because I can get a list, weed it, then send it to act. Then I can do a mail merge with a simple letter and my profile sheet.

Walter how about expanding on how you use it and all. Sounds like it works for you so would you mind sharing your ways with all here?

select phone

here we go

with select phone (All the info in the phone book, All of them) I either use an SIC or a name like Restaurants and a city. It gives me all the listings that would be in the phone book. I save these in a folder. then I would take out the junk (hot dogs, pizza, etc) I then purchase the list (last set came with 2000 contacts). Now I send the list to Act. In act I set up a contact name for these before I send them (Restaurants Oakland MD, for example). Now I warm up the head set and dial for dollars. I complete what I exported from select phone (which is the name and address) with a call to each getting the main contact and verifying the address and contact numbers (tele, fax, email, etc). I then will write one letter using mail merge in act, and with the click of a mouse it makes a letter for each contact. putting in the contacts names and all their info on each letter the letter. I usually put their restaurant name in the letter or the contacts name in the first line. Remember you only type one letter and it makes the same letter but puts the info for each contact on all the others. Now print the letters and the envelopes and put some fancy company info with it . I can write a letter to say 30 new leads with envelopes licked and in the box in about 30 min.

One more thing about select phone, you only get the info that would be in the phone book. So you may not get full addresses. I looked up hotels and %60 had no street address.

Walter Very Good stuff,

They own this program select phone and various others. I prefer and its only a preference. powerfinder business leads. 800-284-8353.. be careful they have many products and some work vary different than others. Doing the sic code search is important and being able to export the data more than one lead at a time is a must.

Hear's a tip to get this list for about 49.00… best buy and compUsa and fry’s electronics usually carry both these software packages. They update these lists about every 4 or five months. When they are changing the lists they sell the olds one at really reduced prices. I buy mine in November its seems they come with the next years version in dec. keep in mind that they are not on selves long and they do go quick.

Sharing these discs is not illegal, copying them are. For example they come in different regions. if you have a good friend and want to share the cost it can be done. When I buy the packages I get the East Coast disc witch is pretty useless to me. I have sent these to people on the boards for use. The software company leads you to believe sharing software is illegal its not as long as you own the original software and your are giving them the original software that’s your right as the owner. (Do not copy this software)

Walter and Ron:

Thanks for the tip! I went out today and found a copy of Select Phone Pro at Office Depot. Wasn't sure I liked it, but it took a bit to figure out what I needed to do. Haven't done anything with it yet, but it appears to be what I was looking for.

What does it cost you to purchase 2000 contacts? I'm assuming that's what it means when you export/print. The software says it comes with 2000 export/prints, and then I have to buy more...I'm a bit concerned about what that might cost.

Thanks!

If anyone is interested I know how to export as many names and numbers as I want from that program without paying for listings. Email me if you want. I don't wish to tell how to do this on this bbs.

I take my entire working area and import it into my business software. It's a few hundred thousand. :)
