women's forum?

I would be open to have a forum design for the ladies, maybe they could supply info about government contracts only awarded to women owned businesses. Or talk about the tax breaks businesses get for using women owned businesses,
I just need a woman willing to moderate this section and make it work. Sounds like a great idea Jon.

My take on it
First, I would like to Thank Jon - I think his suggestion on a "Ladies Forum" was thoughtful and appreciated. I would however, offer the suggestion that if there was a ladies forum, that men be allowed to post as well.
I think the inclusion of men would be refreshing, it would allow them to express their viewpoint. We all know that it is easier for us to express ourselves in written text than it is to do it in person.
Ron, you're right there are real issues when it comes to women in business and in such a male dominated field. Not that, that's bad...Men are a GOOD thing
Some of the issues that I am currently involved in, is the process of Minority Certification. The process itself is quite a task. We are (hopefully) in the final stages of it now. (fingers & toes crossed)
There is also the question of sales (especially in fleet washing). My stepping in the door vs my father. Do women have an advantage in sales over men? My father is very effective, he is older and has a wonderful way of communicating with the receptionists to get in to see the right person.
I on the other hand have sat with men who will say and do things to boast themselves and their responsibilities clearly looking to impress me, but when it comes down to the nut & bolts they overstated themselves or what the company has to offer us.
That's just one example of the differences we have and how best to use them to our company's advantage.
Another issue I struggle with is promoting United's "minority" status. I'm not a big supporter of Affirmative Action. I believe we should be granted a contact on our abilities and our record as a wash company, not on my sex or color.

As far as the bulliten boards go - I find Dan's board and this one the most "women friendly" boards on the net. I don't take well to offensive behavior, pix's, put downs and the such. I hope as this board grows that it too will maintain a high level of respect for it's members.

Well, if we did have our own board, it should be done in pastels, with a nice font.... just kidding... If I want to watch Martha Stewart, I can catch her on PBS.

I just happen to feel strongly about equality....and I am on my soapbox....again.

in such a man dominated field,hahahahahaha then how come MOST men have a ring in their nose as to be lead around by WOMEN,huh,Their has to be a great woman in a mens life to be successful in his life as she is the rib of his backbone.There are alot of great hushand and wife teams out here,I see several of them.
Today I set at the watering hole talking to a newbee,It was a hushand and wife team,I'd say they where in their early twentys.I had stop to get something to snack on and as I was coming out of the store I seem another powerwasher going by hmmmmmmm,hmmmmm i went on to the watering hole and as I was filling up the tank that powerwasher pulled in,man I thought when I seen the powerwasher they had.A old old washer man and it was rusted real bad.I knew the washer b/c another p/w had it when I first started and it was old then,he sold it to a farmer,anyway they had gave 1000 for it,just the washer.
They got out and ask if I was Larry,,yep,,they said other people told them to come and talk to me.They where having trouble cleaning the trucks and she said it was working her to death and they wasn't making any money.I had being talking to them for about a hour when another p/w shows up to get water,they talked with use for awhile and so gone.....in about 2 hours he(they,wife) comes back to get water and I'm still here helping with their answers.Yel I spent the evening at the watering hole going from how to clean,trucks,homes,ect. to bussisess cards.They have 2 kids and would like to p/w full time and wanting to make 1500 a week.With what I seen of them,they want have no trouble getting that b/c of the team they where.It thrills the h-ll out of me to see a hushand and wife team especially if the woman is into it as much as the hushand,which she was.They told me they wouldn't take none or try to get any of my bussiness,,I told them get what you can get even if it is mine b/c if you get it I didn't need it anyhow I can get more.
I disagree and say this is more of a woman dominated world,,,,I think I heard Jon barking but he's setting in the corner like a good puppy now,lol.

Wife tried it and my finger pointed to the front door, that took care of that idea pretty fast.
I don't say this is a mans world, I say equal pay for equal work and that means just what it says.
Now I had hoped to be the richest man in the world but just could not figure out how to get pregnant so had to leave that to the wife.

......careful here Luckyboy,its better to set in dat corner and lap your milk as to set on the front porch howling to get in....and yes any great woman can lead me around by my nose but not just any woman,meaning if I don't have to set in dat corner or howl to get in.
I felt sorry for the team I was talking about,they had gave way to much for the setup they had,the brush they where useing was the kind you see at Wally world that fits on the end of a garden hose,the soap they had wouldn't clean chicken s--- out between your toes,she was more over joyed than him as to me answering their q'tions,haha b/c I think she was doing all the brushing plus go do this go do that.They said it looked like they had already made alot of mistakes as to their rig,pricing,"collecting",ect. and thinking it wasn't much to it....she'll be the backdone of their team as to getting bussiness,finding out things as in learning anything she can......meaning another great woman pushing her man out front for all to see.........and I think in time this is the only team that I may fear as to bussiness coming to them as in missing up my playpen.
