Remember the troops this Christmas. Please read this.

Distinguished Professors
We are sending some packages to Afghanistan this year. As long as we have troops deployed in war zones we will try to keep this up. It makes us feel good to do this and we know that the troops really appreciate this too. There is one Marine who we will be sending to this year, and he will share everything among the troops where he is. His father-in-law is a friend of mine, and this guy is on his first deployment.

We will happily accept donations of cash or items to send from the pressure wash community. Many of you have been generous in the past. If you are sending anything to us, be sure to post it here on PWI. I'd like folks to see your generosity. If you want the troops to know who sent them stuff, give us business cards to throw into the packages. If you send something but want it kept on the DL, be sure to say so in a note in the package.

As always, Sun Brite Supply will cover the cost of sending all packages. We will be sending a few packages of our own, too. Items like deodorant, shampoo, edibles like nuts, playing cards, hard candies, and things that will survive a rough three week journey are good to send. Items that can be handed out to kids are always good things to send. Items like chocolate cakes just won't survive the trip. Sorry.

Cash is always good. We use it to shop for stuff at Sam's.

If you are sending goods, try to get them here by December 5'th. We will pack stuff up and send it on the 7th. Hoping to get it there by the 25'th.

If you are sending cash, you can use PayPal and send it to my email (pete@sunbritesupply.com). You can also call in with a credit or debit card (770-277-9924) and we will handle the rest. If you are sending money, try to get it to us by the 4'th of December so we can go shopping with it.

As always, anything you might do - no matter how small or large - is greatly appreciated by people a long way from family during the holidays.

Thank you to all donors, both for this year and for years past. What you do makes a difference. A big difference.

Pete

PS: Forgot to put our address in the post. It is 180-B Industrial Park Circle, Lawrenceville, GA, 30046.

I have three nephews who are Marines. Between them I think they had seven deployments to Iraq and/or Afghanistan. These guys came home safe and sound, for which I will always be thankful.

Me? Missed getting drafted for a medical reason. Thought that was great at the time, but also always felt I missed doing my part. That is why I do this.

A package really sends a warm message when it comes from a lot of folks. I don't care if all you can contribute is a buck or a single deck of cards. Like you always heard, it's the thought...

Don't forget our troops overseas this holiday season.

We are packing and shipping this coming week. The target is to get the packages to the Post Office by Friday morning. I hope even more of you find it possible to be a part of this effort.

Merry Christmas to all.

To the very special folks who have sent contributions, we thank you thank you thank you. Beyond being excellent contractors and suppliers within this great industry, you are very caring individuals with generous hearts. As with any unselfish act, I believe it all comes back to you in time. Balance in the universe and all that. Thank you again.

If any others wish to be a part of this drive to send packages to some Marines in Afghanistan this Christmas, all you need to know has been written into this thread. We will have everything bought by tomorrow, and we will send the packages as soon as everything is bundled up.

This is your last chance to be a part of this really nice thing. Merry Christmas to all of you.

I am just overwhelmed.

I am really happy about what we were able to accomplish this year for this very important project. I can tell you that we are shipping 10-15 packages to Afghanistan this Christmas. We are taking an inventory, but I can tell you there is everything from chewing gum to cans of Beef-a-roni and everything in between. Twizzlers, cocoa, crew socks, cup-a-soups, toilet paper, nice soap for the ladies, books to read, chap-stick, granola bars, Pringles, and the list goes on and on and on.

We are sending dozens to hundreds of everything on the list.

This is all possible because of your generosity, folks. I am going to send these from "the pressure wash industry" but I am also going to include messages in each box identifying individual contributors so that these Marines know who was thinking of them.

I am warmed by the responses I got to this appeal. I know they will be too. Our shipments are going to be sent to
CPL Stalvey, Phillip
3/9 Kilo Co.
Unit 73003
FPO AE 09510-3003

One more note on all this. One of the suppliers all of you know was the single largest contributor to this effort. He did not asked to be named, but I really want you to know how much this man does quietly in the background to further the industry. Russ Johnson is somebody I have the greatest respect for, and although I won't reveal his name I hope that most of you will be able to figure out who he is. Troops 2 copy.jpg

Thanks again to every contractor and supplier who kicked in. I can't tell you how much fun it was to go shopping for all this stuff. Even more fun to pack and ship. This is our best year ever, and I am overwhelmed at your generosity.

May all of you enjoy the best of holidays this year, and may all of your businesses prosper in the new year.

NOT SURPRISED IN THE LEAST.

We do a lot of things outside of our everyday business of supplying contractors every year, but this is the most gratifying thing we do. I think the holidays bring out the best in all people, and we just try to help direct some of that good spirit to people who need a little cheer.

Last post for this thread. Y'all can close this out any time.

Just a final tally on what is being sent this year:
40 pairs crew socks
6 paperbacks
140 cocoa servings
72 hot cider servings
420 granola bars
120 packs of gum
200 sanitize wipes
60 cans ravioli
108 rolls of SOFT tp
74 cans of soup
16 bars of Olay soap
72 cans of fruit
24 lip balms
6 tins of cookies
7 cans of Pringles
72 ramen noodle cup-a-soups
40 juice boxes
3 containers of lemonade mix
and lots of bags of roasted almonds, Werthers candy, Twizzlers, and trail mix.

if you are wondering about the heavy concentration on food items, we have been told from afar that MRE's are not the epicurean delights that we all believed them to be. We have had good luck with stuff arriving intact, so if any of you are thinking about sending your own packages these are some good items to choose from. Thanks one more time to the nice folks who took part in this.

Pete
