Striping on flat work. Overlap how to break the lines.

When doing flat work we are getting overlap stripes is there anything that can stop this or break it up besides cutting in the area after?

I am interested in this posting. Am I right in guessing that it is a concrete surface you are washing? I had similar issues. I came to the conclusion that the stripes were caused by the area concerned getting a double wash with the overlap from the next pass. I tend to try to do a half pass over the last strip washed. I eye the centre of the rotowasher with the edge of the last pass that way the whole area gets a double wash. Sounds a bit time consuming because you cover the area somewhat slower but you don't have to go over missed spots and the striping doesn't appear. Just my 2 cents worth.

I do the same thing... maybe I'll rethink the 'half pass' thing next time. I had similar results last week on a driveway.

This is a great video and goes a long way to explaining why you are getting striping.

Larger volume and higher pressure machines are far less prone to striping.

Actually the striping in the video is due to speed (going too fast for the equipment being used).

The 'banding' we are seeing is going from pass to pass where they overlap one another.

In general, I would suggest that if banding occurs, then the surface just isn't as clean as it can get. When my budget permits, I'll be moving up to a pair of 5.6's combined, after all, GPM is king ... right?

Step one..pre treat as desired. Step two..wash like normal? Thats why you have a 20" surface vkeaner not a 12". Step three...if overkap lines occur mist with diluted roof mix the more drastic the lines the hotter the mix. Just a mist dont nees to soak. Dissapears right before your eyes. dont rinse..your done. Lots of threads on this actually

All of the above. Housewash mix before sometimes after. In the case of your picture it still doesn't look clean sometimes I have to go over it two or three times if it's bad. Sometimes I go over it at a 90 degree pass lenghtwise then horizontally. Also what gpm pressure and nozzles are you using? With what size surface cleaner?

Before and After using a Roof Mix...

If your gpm, psi and nozzles are correct, then you may need detergent/house wash or roof mix because it is just too dirty too deep into the surface to get it all. We have a circular species of mold here that you couldn't remove with a jack hammer, but a little SH will just make it go away.

Also, start at the top by the garage door and do one square at a time. Run off will head down the drive. If you have to go both directions, it's easier one square at a time rather than the whole length back and forth. You will also be able to determine results faster on one square VS the whole drive at once.

Something about the concrete in Fl it happens a lot more down there than anywhere else it seems. You'll find once it dries you don't see anything.

We clean one section in one direction, quickley clean that section in oppisite direction. Reverse directions on next section. This seems to help.

Used to happen to me all the time, drove me crazy! upped my house wash mix and let dwell for about 15 minutes, do one section at a time in both directions...comes out flawless
