How to keep the windows from spotting up in these cold temps.

Hey everyone I have had a house or two that has been having issues with windows spotting up after we powerwash (im assuming it is because of the cold) we always rinse down the windows after powerwashing and have not had problems with this in the past but these two houses have really got me thinking. Does anybody have any suggestions we use low concentrate bleach with some soap to make it stick.

I wish it was 80 here this time of year maybe its a time for a move! Tony no I am not using pure water, we usually have softer water around here my next step was to grab a DI system however with it nearing the end of the busy season I was hoping for a less expensive solution that also somehow doesn't involve manual retouching of the windows. Do you think that it is the temp?

Thanks for re-affirming my beliefs and the input guys, maybe its just getting about that time to roll up the hoses and break out the plows unfortunately.

1) We use Roof Snot so rarely have problems with window spotting
2) we use warm or hot water to rinse with depending on the ambient temp if we do have a problem.
or
3) we also use a blower to blow dry windows when needed

This is in our proposals: Window Cleaning is not a part of this proposal. Depending on the quality of your water, there may be some slight spotting on windows. We do however use a rinse aid to minimize this. We will be happy to provide you with a quote for window cleaning that can be done after the house wash if you so desire.[/COLOR]

I find the opposite in cold weather. The windows stay wet longer giving you the ability to rinse better and easier. The chems don't dry on the glass in colder temps . Warm water helps but maybe your rinsing hasn't been as good. If the windows were very dirty that could be an issue. in that case I agitate the glass with a brush and rinse.

I recently started using Elemonator in my house mix and have to say that when the windows are rinsed well enough they may look good enough to not feel guilty leaving them, that is if window cleaning isn't part of the package. If you are selling window cleaning as a "line item", that MAY still do the trick, but more window cleaning specific measures would be a safer bet and a good backup. The least hands on you can get is agitate and rinse with pure water.

Thanks everyone will try the elemonator, and will definitally be using a brush for the last month of residential. Maybe the salt just isnt dissolving as quickly we use hot water washers but might just have to pump up the heat a bit.

We always quote a window cleaning along with whatever else we happen to be bidding on. If we aren't hired to do a window cleaning but we are doing a roof cleaning or a house wash we will always use bleach wash on the windows. It was one thing when I was the one performing all of these jobs myself. But once we switched to having employees full time we were getting some call backs for spotted windows. Now with the bleach wash we never get those types of call backs. Our process for doing this is very quick and cheap too.

I was answering the question of cold temps by Brad. Not yours Tony. Early spring and fall are easier to deal with windows because of less heat . Wind is usually an issue with over spray from areas already cleaned. Biggest issue of concern with spotting in cold months.

Thanks again everyone cool video tony. Thanks Jim yeah we usually dont wash residential this late but the weathers been everywhere this year. Gonna give the bleach wash a go as well. Kinda off topic but is there another diamond jim around my neck of the woods? I think I remember seeing it or am I just thinking of innovative.

Im washing a house tomorrow because it's in the 60ties . Probably my last . I did a couple of huge quotes for a slate roof and a huge house but told them it had to be done this weekend because of great temps. They didn't bite.

Question is what you're using as far as your house wash mix. Our mix has actually dried on the window but completely clear when rinsed. There are several out there that work really well....Just remember....keep it simple.

Adding all these extra detergents seems excessive and expensive. Why increase your costs on supplies when you can spend a few extra minutes rinsing. I tell all my guys, after you really have rinsed the windows well and are happy with the end product, RINSE THEM AGAIN!

The rinse problems will occur when the detergent you use gets mixed to strong an the sodium metisilicate in the detergent rears it's ugly head. It's a great base product just don't over use it or it will haze the windows.
