Belts Breaking

Mark 8262

Residential and Commercial Pressure Washing Specia
I have a 10gpm 3000 psi cold water machine that we built a few months ago. It keeps breaking or burning belts. I have had the local shop look at it and adjust it but it continues to happen. I think the belts seem a little tight, but the shop says they are correct. Not sure if it matters but we built it on a frame that originally had a 5.6 gpm machine on it.

any ideas would be appreciated..............thanks

How many belts and what size?

I think specs say you should have 3 belts for 10 @ 3000

I used cheap chinese belts when I assembled my first pressure washer and was having to replace them every couple weeks as the would get loose and stretch. I replaced them with North American belts, ran thousands of hours before needing to replace. I now run the more expensive tooth belts and its been years. My TS2021 only has one belt on her and she runs no problems for years now.

Another thing you can do to help if you pressure washer allows it is to increase the pulley size. Larger pulley is more surface area which will decrease the amount the belt slips. You are limited to what your pressure washer will allow with guards and how close the bottom is as well.

Used to have similar belt problems on a 6GPM, 14 HP Kubota diesel rig. Two separate belts would bounce at full RPMs, and then over-tighten them to stop bounce, which would lead to breakage. Solved this by installing heavy duty molded two belt (two-groove belts molded into one). I may have one somewhere in the shop. I'll look for it and see what size it is.

If you could give me the #'s of the belts that would be great......thanks

Mark, I will do that tomorrow, and see if I can snap a photo.

Mark, here's the belt i speak of. It's a Thermoid Prime Mover (made in Germany) and is a B65, which I believe is the total circumference of the belt.IMG_1437.jpg IMG_1438.jpgIMG_1439.jpg

As you can see it is a heavy-duty double-molded belt.
