Which is better 7.8gpm/2850psi or 6.5gpm/3450psi

For cleaning commercial concrete with a surface cleaner, would you rather have 7.8gpm at 2850psi, or 6.5gpm at 3450psi? Same 22 hp engine on both, and assume the same burner with both (so the 6.5 would run a little hotter). With 7.8 would I have to upgrade to 1/2" hose?
 
I would go with the 7.8 personally. More flow, and you can adjust the pressure with your tips, and can also use a larger surface cleaner with the incresed flow. I clean cement at approx. 2000 psi IMO, Anything higher than that, you are running a risk of damaging the cement. Not sure how dense they mix the cement in your area, but around here you mainly get 2000 psi compressive strength cement. Also, with the 7.8 gpm unit, if you want to slow down to 6.5gpm you can adjust your throttle. Can't get the 6.5gpm to give you 7.8 gpm.
 
I'm going to be going 10 GPM at 3000 pretty soon. That's the main reason I'm going to the UAMCC event. Even my helper told me that I was going to go there to buy a new unit. I can't wait to get the Hydrotek off my truck and sold. Ill replace the Hydrotek on the trailer soon as well.

I put together a 10 gpm 3000 psi unit for $3200. Its a 28 hp subaru efi and a udor gearbox combo.

here is the friction loss chart. you lose about 300 psi per 100 feet of hose. Higher flow is always better, but from what I understand commercial requires more psi. If you are using 2-300 foot hose, that's 600-900 psi loss. http://www.catpumps.com/products/pdfs/993415A_REF_Hose Friction Loss.pdf

I had my fair share of problems with gear boxes in the past. I prefer belt driven units. Maybe if I can something with the GX1036 pump on it. It will give me 10.4 Gallons Per Minute at 3600 PSI. I just want the unit to be able to maintain 180 degrees or so.
 
Vince once you go to those GX1036's you won't go back. I have 2 machines, one running just the GX1036 the other has a TS2021 as well. My burner is the restriction on the dual pump setup, that will get replaced in the future. They are a monster of a pump and assuming you have the power to push them you will be happy.

Yeah, still having problems even as of tonight with them. Just like my old 2011 F-450 that had nothing but problems. The 2015 F-450 I got already has 11,000 miles on it and not 1 bit of problems with it so far.

I haven't heard anything bad about the Legacy pumps. The nice thing is that I can carry 550 gallons of water and still be legal weight with my truck. I know some water sources though won't keep up with 10 GPM though. I was figuring that a 30 HP Kohler would work great with a GX1036.
