I had a job today that was in city limits so they should of had city water. My city supplies 60 lbs pressure. They never switched to city water so they are still on a well. I never thought about checking the pressure on the hose bib when I did the estimate but when I hooked up today I had plenty of water out the bib but it would only trickle through my pump. The first thing I did was come home and try my washer, everything is fine. Do you guys do anything special to check the supplied pressure? Hose connector to pressure gauge capped off maybe?
??

A lot of people out west in my area run on wells, and depending their setup can be good or bad pressure.

Though it's not the best test, I'll just do a 5gal bucket test. I use a 100 gal buffer tank and since it's small I let it fill while I setup all the rest of my things. Now that I'm pressure washing more than detailing, I'm going with a bigger tank next time around haha.

Be careful with wells. I did paint removal off of an old building that used well water, the H20 hook up was inside the building but the water was FILLED with dirt. I was 1/2 way through the job before I noticed the dirty water. Had to take my tank off the trailer and clean out 1.5 inches of mud from the bottom, flush the pump, valves, etc.. TOTAL NIGHTMARE.

Always clean/replace your filters after you use well water. Also I use a hudson float valve and I end up having to take that apart and clean it after a well water job. Some homes have a well water and city water hook up. I insist that I use the city water or I won't do the job.

Agee with that one. Wells could be 300 feet to over a mile deep.(diff parts of the country) some just go to a small spot of water and others go down to an aquafer. That also depends on the county building codes, or how cheep the contractor was. Rain has a big effect on wells no matter how deep along with time, trust me on that one before using heet with well water. i installed 2 in line GE home fiters for useing well water. With well water and 325 gall buffer tank the hudson valves come off, just another restriction in the line to the tank. Its just something that gets learned as you go,like the strenghth of your mix, what chems to use, what tips, how much pressure, gpm and so on. Keep going, test, spend the money on diffrent chemicals and test. Been at this for almost 4 years and not a day goes by that I do not learn. best of luck to ya.

Always test the water that you will be using to see if it has any flow and pressure......always.

Most people here have both. They dig shallow wells to water their lawns with. The water table here in fl is not far under the surface. The water is dark and full of sand. It can clog a filter after only a job or two. And it messes up my float valve almost instantly. After i explain that to them, they don't seem to mind. I haven't lost a job to it yet.
