My first rig..........completed

Hello all,

I just wanted to post my first rig........completed and ready to go. I know its not a professional like most of you have but we all have to start somewhere, the only thing that I can not use is the buffer tank. My pump will not pull from the tank, I saw a post about it after I had bought the tank but is OK. Once I see that business is coming my way I will buy a belt driven pump, for now is just going to look "good" in the trailer. If I do get another pump it will also be a little bigger and I will also need a larger motor, so the one I have now will stay on the trailer for back up.........or maybe a two man operation in the future. I am now looking in to the legal things, I got a quote for insurance and looking into a business license. Hopefully this will work for me even though is will be a side business for now. I also want to thank all of you that have answer many of my questions that I have posted, this is a great forum and I am glad I am part of it. Thanks again!!!!!!

Hey hector,

Very nice, looks very similar to my first rig. I use the same machines and they pull from the tank just fine. Take the filter and move it closer to the bulk head of the tank, that may be restricting it so close to the pump. fill you water tank all the way to the top, start machine with no gun on its just the hose/ ball valve to help prime and get the air out. If it still does not gravity feed, take your garden hose and stick it through the top of the tank and hold it infront of the bulk head on the inside to help force feed the machine, once water is coming out, let the tank do the work, and dont ever let it get below the bulk head.

hope this helps

Thanks Dan,

I will try that way. I tried once but I had the gun on and it just did not prime and I did not want to run the pump dry for a long time either so I shut it down kind of fast. I will move the filter hopefully it will work. I have not bought the hudson valve because I did not think it will work, if it does I will order the hudson valve to finish that part. Thanks again.

Hector, Yes, We all have to start somewhere but I gotta say, Your rig looks just fine! The main thing is, You have a place for each item and it's very organized...

Even if you end up not being able to use one of the tanks for a little while, It simply looks good sitting there...

Keep us posted with your progress!!!

All the best,
Mike

Thanks guys for a the positive comments...........I will keep you all posted on the business progress!!!!!!

Looking great for first rig very nice. Also if you will take all things off the washer like your pressure hose etc .Fill your tank all the way up an start engine let run see what happens if nothing take an crack the bolt open that attach to the fitting that leaves the pump that should fix it sound like its might be in a type of vapor lock not sure if that is correct term. However in the winter when i blow my machine out mine will do the same thing an its belt drive try these steps still no go throw it away lol.Good Luck my friend

Thanks guys, I will try again with all the suggestions to see it I can get it to prime. Have a great weekend!!!!!

I'm thinking it will be a pain to reel in hose the high off the ground.

Your pump will work just fine with flooded suction. It looks to me as if you have a very small supply hose from the Header tank to the pump. 1/2 inch at a guess. Take the valve out and the strainer and change the line to 1 1/4inch from the tank and step it down at the pump Minimal restrictions on the supply. Put a strainer inside the tank on the 1 1/4 line if you feel you really need it. if it is in the tank it is in a FLOODED situation and the restriction will be less than a draw through type strainer. What you must remember is that with a header tank the supply water is not under pressure like a direct to the mains type pressure washer, therefore the restrictions to the pump drawing water from the header tank must be at an absolute minimum because it is gravity fed. Nothing wrong with a direct drive pump. I doubt changing it out for a belt drive will make a huge amount of difference...your problems lye with the delivery of your water to the pump.

Thanks WASH-IT, and actually the fitting and braided hose is all 1" the restriction part is the filter/strainer just before the pump that is reduced to 3/4 I believe. Someone already suggested I try putting the filter closer to the tank but I have not done it yet. I will try that and hopefully then I will be able to pull from it.'

Than you,

It looks great Hector. I agree with Chris though about the hose reels being too high off the ground. It looks like you have plenty of room on the back of the trailer for them. Also, I would run a 1/2" bypass hose going from the unloader back to the tank to prevent the pump from overheating if you have to stop and talk on the phone or to a customer while you're working.

Hector, you may need to step up to a 1" or larger filter strainer.

Mike
